^ Does Midwestern wait for pcat scores first before they invite for an interview? (since I still need to take the Sept pcat..)
Also, anyone here also applying to Lecom or Mercer? I haven't received anything from them :?

I also am taking it in Sept which means pharmcas won't receive it until late October. Are we at a disadvantage in this process by taking the PCAT towards the end?

We probably are at a disadvantage since its rolling admissions so whoever has completed application will be reviewed first. but its always better to take pcat late and have enough time to study and get a good score than early with a bad score lol. When does Midwestern start reviewing files?

I think they will review the applications once they are complete. Interviews start in Oct and end in Feb...at least thats what it says on Pharmcas.

Yeah I have been studying for 2-3 months now and want to be fully prepared. Our Pharmcas application for midwestern won't be complete until Late Oct since it would take that long for pharmcas to get scores. Once pharmcas has scores do they send it on the next monday right away? I hope we are not at too big of a disadvantage since we are still turning in the Pharmcas app 1 month early

They actually end in April.

It's good that you are all applying early but don't sacrifice the integrity of your application for the sole purpose of applying early. I interviewed in March and was accepted the same month... and I submitted my application in December.

I think >3.0 GPA and a PCAT over 70 should guarantee you an interview here. Beyond that it doesn't really matter. If they like you then you will get in.

Sure I'll let you know! Are u applying to any CA schools other than touro ?

Western and Northstates, but I am not sure about Northstate because I read the forum and the student didn't really like the school and it's hard to borrow a loan. How about you? And where else are you applying?

I am also applying to Northstate (and Loma linda + UOP as well). Not western cuz of the biochem requirment 🙁 lol. Yeh I heard about the loans as well but it's nice that it's in California since I'd like to stay near family and not have to go out of state. have you submitted their (Northstate's) supplemental yet?

I am from Cali but I'm applying early to schools without a bachelors. If I get in to pharm school sweet i don't have to finish bachelors. If i don't i come back another year and finish it up. But from this site I have heard Biochem is really important to take before pharmacy school. If i were you i would try to take it.
Only pharm school in Cali I"m applying to is Western. Rest are our of state. Are you guys planning on going to cali after pharm school?

I have taken biochem to satisfy other school's requirement but western doesn't accept my class since I took a biochem class for bio majors at my school and western wants the one for biochem majors.

I'm interviewing at the end of next month! 😀 Can anyone tell me what to expect and what's the ratio of interviewed to accepted? Thank you!

I am not planning to submit Northstate until later... (I am trying to submit to my first choice) There are so many mini essay to write and I am not good at it 🙁

congrats! when did you submit your supplemental? and did u already take the pcat?

For the ratio of interview to expected I think you can look that up on pharmcas school page.

Yeah he must have taken the pcat already or they wouldn't have looked at his app yet. I feel really behind for this school. I'm taking PCAT sept 26th. which means pharmcas won't get my scores until late oct. Which means i probably won't get the supplemental until early to mid November. Damnnn 🙁

I submitted the supplemental August 22nd and my pharmCAS was sent out August 8th. I received the interview email yesterday and it's my first interview so far. Yes, I took my PCAT last year but I'm retaking it next month. I'm new to this forum; do you think you can direct me to where the interview questions are?

Wait, will midwestern send you the supp application if you still have the pcat to take??

I'm not sure because I did have a PCAT score sent with my Pharmcas. I'm scheduled for a retake only because I want to improve it. If you don't have any PCAT scores yet, I'm not sure what the policy would be. What I can say for certain is that on their supplemental application, there's a section where it says "do you plan on retaking the PCAT?" It then asks you to input the day for the retake. If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about how fast you can get your supplementary app in because Midwestern has a pretty simple one and I'm sure you'll be able to send it in the day you receive it. If it makes you feel any better, one of my friends didn't finish her supplemental apps until the day before they were due and she still got into pharm school without being waitlisted! ^_^

Thanks for the response! Yeah I just want to get everything in asap. I think I am gonna call them to see how this process works. I'm still waiting pharmcas to calculate my GPA. This is the last step I have left.

I'm trying to log in to the supplemental but I keep getting this message:

Sorry, we were unable to find a record that matched. Please make sure you have entered everything correctly and try again.

Help? 😕

I had the same stupid problem with another school's apps. T_T Try using a different browser. For some particular reason, my supplemental apps hated firefox and either kept refreshing the page every time I hit "continue" or gave me an error message when I tried signing in. I hope that helps!

Wow, congrats! You're probably going to be one of the first to interview there. Good luck :luck:

Hey guys, i'm applying to midwestern... I have about 20 credits earned in high school from IB exams. I transferred these credits to my undergrad institution and they are posted on my undergrad transcript. Anyone know whether glendale campus requires a transcript from the IBO saying you earned those credits? Or does the credits posted on your undergrad transcript suffice?

@ Hellopanda22, WOW congrats on your early interview! I didn't know they start interviewing applicants this early. I am planning on submitting my supplemental application tonight, hopefully I'll hear good news. I dont have very good stats 🙁

Thanks! Don't worry too much about your stats because mine aren't great either. 🙁

PCAT: 79%
GPA: 3.3

I had a sub 2.0 GPA after freshman year (failed a class) and didn't do well my Sophomore year. However, I got my act together by Junior year and had like a 3.7-3.8 my last two years. I think Midwestern takes your last 2 years into considerable attention. I also visited the campus and talked to some of the people in administration. They really encourage people to apply as long as you have above a 2.5.Therefore, if you're in a similar boat, I think you'll be okay.

Just work really hard on your essay! The pharmacist I worked under use to conduct interviews at UOP and she told me that they can really tell whether or not you're passionate by your interview and essays. Honestly, I've never wanted something so badly in my life so maybe they could tell. Good luck!

I submitted my supplemental last night and my application is now complete.

Our stats are really similar.

GPA: 3.2
PCAT: 73%
Junior & Senior year GPA around 3.8

Worked in pharmaceuticals industry for the past 2 years.

How did you guys study for the pcat? Any tips?

I took a Kaplan course but I didn't find it to be particularly helpful. On their real practice test, I scored 93% on my composite so I was extremely disappointed when I got my actual score. Admittedly, the circumstances on my test day were really messed up so perhaps that's why. If I were you, I would just buy a few books and focus heavily on the biology and chemistry aspect of PCAT. Buying a practice test book would also help you in terms of getting your timing down.

I actually simply winged it lol.
working 60 hour weeks is not optimal for studying anything at all.

So I just took it based on memories since graduated 2 years ago🙁

HelloPanda22, since you received your interview invite do you mind giving me a timeline of your application for Midwestern? I think you mentioned earlier but my phone is being difficult about moving through pages. Thanks!👍

Check their website: "The average composite PCAT score of applicants admitted in 2010 was in the 77th percentile." (With the caveat that there is no minimum PCAT score to be considered for acceptance.)

ETA:

Also from their website: "The average overall and science GPAs of applicants admitted in 2009 were 3.35 and 3.31, respectively, on a 4.00 scale."

Man...Looks like their stats went down for the PCAT in 2010.

My pharmCAS was officially mailed out Aug 8th and I sent my supplementary materials around Aug 22nd. The interview invite was within a few days of that submission.

nice! congratulations on your interview! how was the supplemental app? I'm waiting for PharmCAS to calculate my GPA. I want to get started with the supplemental app, but I gotta play the waiting game..

For those applying to both the Chicago and Glendale campus, since they both ask the same question (other than formal coursework blah blah.....?), did you guys just send both the same answers? or are we supposed to answer differently for each one?

I sent the same answer to the question for both campuses. Think that it was ok that way because I already got an interview invitation a few days ago for Glendale. While I'm on that topic is anyone else on here going to the interview on Friday, September 30th? If so I'd like to possibly discuss being in the same hotel to go over interview questions and take the hotel shuttle there together. Anyone interested please PM me or reply directly on this blog, thanks.

Supplemental app for Glendale was simple, one question and optional resume. I'd recommend throwing together at least a basic resume though. If you're applying to both campuses, as many are, Chicago campus requires an additional question and the above resume is required so you'd already have it done.

congrats on the interview invite!

arg, I submitted my supplemental Aug 31st, hopefully I hear some positive news soon 🙁

You should be fine, probably have a shot at the interviews at the end of the month still! Stay positive! If you get it and are interested in my above proposition let me know!!! I submitted my supplemental 8/24, my last recommendation got to them sometime that week and got the offer 8/31 so you should hear very soon!!!
p.s. just checked and saw that they "received" my second recommendation on 8/29 so they responded with an interview invite within 2 days!

did you received the invite in the mail?

since I submitted 31st on the wednesday, they dont have many days to process and the labor day long weekend hits.

It was sent by email and accepted in the same place where you look at your status. Yeah the Labor day weekend does make it take longer for you to hear back. Hopefully they get to you sometime this week and you get an interview too! I had the choice between Thursday and Friday the 29th and 30th but considering I'm in school M-Th I had no choice but Friday.

Hopefully I get to be invited to interview and able to meet you guys at the end of September date.

Just going to have to come up with a lot of excuses to take work off haha.😀

Hey guys, I just got invited to an interview to another school on September 30th also. Midwestern has not sent me any information yet, so I think my likelihood to receive an interview invite soon is unlikely.

However, what should I do if I do get invited to September 30th interview? anyone know when Midwestern's next interview is?

I got a letter saying that they put my application on hold 🙁 ...... I hope they will give me an interview, but I guess I did kind of bad in my PCAT which I am retaking the end of this month. Hopefully I do better and get an interview. :xf:

good luck!

Going to schedule 29th since i have another interview on 30th.

^ congrats. do you mind sharing your stats? plz 🙂

Grats everyone on the interviews!! Hopefully one will be coming my way. I still have to take the PCAT in a week 👎 This waiting is killing me.
