Finally. I was waitlisted to the three other schools I interviewed at and this was my last chance. I was already looking for a second job for next year. THANK GOD!!!!!!!

Just got back from Nov 15th interview... i thought it went great... anyone else from the 15th... i was the asian guy that was talkative... i think that might narrow it down...

hang in there tho...u still have hope! the only thing that sucks is the waiting game!

btw, i sent me PCAT to pharmcas (altho it's not an updated score, i sent it in w/ my application)..perhaps w/ ur new pcat score they'll look at your file more favorably.

u should always call to doublecheck where the pcat mark goes!
 
they need to start pulling from the waitlist already!! haha
 
i thought i did well in the interview and i got on the waitlist too. don't know what the deal is but i guess it wasn't meant to be plus it's not up to the interviewers.
 
I thought I did well...i dont mean to sound cocky but I thought I was towards the top of my little group (of 3) I read on here however, that the interviewers arent even part of the admissions board which is freakin rediculous...all they do is write down your answers...which means you can have horrible interview skills, but as long as you pretty much say what they wanna hear, you should be fine...not saying that all of you that got in didnt deserve to, because its DEFINTELY the opposite, I think you all did great and must be the total package, it just kinda upsets me the people you interview with dont really have a pull and all they do is score you...
 
for those who got in, do you remember how many questions the interviewers asked you? i felt that my interviewers asked me like tons of questions (more so than the other guys). I am not saying it isnt fair...as long as it is to my advantage.

and another thing, if you applied to both schools and you get accepted to one school per se, does the interact now change after 2 weeks or they still remain the same?

Congrats to all of you who have been accepted and I wish the best for those on the waiting list. I'm still waiting on my Oct PCAT scores...hopefully it's good enough to make my application to MWU competitive. 🙄

hey:

for my interview, there were only two interviewees against 3 interviewers.. they screwed up a bit so they kept making the other guy go first for a few q's in a row! which i didn't think was totally fair... plus they were suppose to ask the same q's for both applicants but they changed a lot of it so myself and the other interviewee were asked drastically diff q's for many q's.

however, im not complaining b/c i thought CPG asked some really good q's that demonstrated my knowledge in the field. An interview that i had w/ another school asked really irrelevant q's like "whats the last book u read" and thus i wasn't able to show ANYTHING that i've learned from the pharmacy 🙁

i applied to both CPG and CCP. I got accepted in CPG before i even went for my mandatory campus visit with CCP, so yes my CPG interact changed right away, as soon as eveyrbody else from the same interview group changed.

I'll be attending the downer's grove Midwester interview on the 13th of December. I would like to know what to expect. How long will the interview process last and what's the likely hood that i'll get accepted since so many people have already been accepted.

Hi armypharmtech----I got my letter on Friday, it wasnt really a packet though, just a letter with instructions to go online and complete everything there.

it really depends on when the adcom meet up for discussion. I think they meet up once a month or once every other week to discuss all the people interviewed. It just so happens that right after i interviewed, the adcom met up the very first monday after that and i was able to find out about my decision in a week! But the people that interviewed in the slot prior to mine had to wait a good month...
 
after you guys got the interview, do you have any ideas whether they go back to your academic profile (gpa, pcat, and whatever) and compare your complete package again with everyone else. or, do they just look at the interview eval score, work exp, and EC/leadership exp?
 
I just got an email from CCP for the Dec 13, 17 interview. YAY 😀🙂😀🙂
 
i just got an interview invite for january at midwestern CPG...i turned in my application like 1.5-2 weeks ago.

i'm very surprised that i got an interview invite so quickly considering i turned in my application at a "not super early" time

my question is are they like touro where they pretty much invite MOST of the people that completed the supplemental? or do they actually do some filtering before...

Well... my gpa ain't that high compared to some applicants.. i sent in my pharmCAS app to touro and got rejected without an invite for supplemental (yes i do have a BS)... This is my 2nd year applying to midwestern... I got waitlisted at CCP campus and didn't get an invite for interview for CPG last year... I sent in my app last year for CPG around 12/29/06 and wasn't invited even though they were still inviting applicants to be interviewed until April. I actually thought I wasn't going to get an interview this year because I got a the same letter I got last year saying that my file would be put on hold for a "potential interview." So when I got an interview this year, I was quite ecstatic. To put it simply, I do think they screen who gets an interview or not so I guess consider yourself lucky 🙂

October 16 - All apps received at CPG
October 20 - Received letter in mailbox regarding "potential interview"
November 5 - Received CPG interview in e-mail
Nov 15 - Interview at CPG
Currently waiting...
 
Does anyone know when they start pulling people off the alternate list?
When was it last year? I received my new PCAT scores today which I think should make me a much stronger candidate. If they wait to consider me until they complete to interview all the candidates, then it would be unfair to remain in the pool of the waitlist. 🙁
 
do you have leadership experience or extracurricular activities? if you have high gpa and high pcat scores, it wouldnt make a difference if you are not well-rounded. if you scored like a high 80s last time and cracked above 90s this time, i really don't think it would do you any good. correct me if i am wrong.

a question for all the accepted students who already paid their deposit:

did MWU send you any package of housing or health immunization info after you paid your deposit online?

They start pulling people off probably beginning of June... I think the last interview date is in April... Although, your scores have improved I haven't seen a case where they pull people off before they interviewed everyone... and this is my 2nd year applyin' so I kind of know the routine... Good luck with everything, and keep midwestern updated!!

I'm pretty sure this year is different because school begins the 2nd week of June as opposed to the 2nd week of August, so I'm thinking they start pulling people in March.

Also, if you are waitlisted strictly based on your pcat score and you now have a much better pcat score, your application will be reviewed again once mwu has received your updated pcat score.

My GPA 3.97 (Science 4.0)
Previous PCAT 87%
October 2007 PCAT 88%
currently volunteering at a hospital pharmacy (about 100 hours)
some other volunteering experience
and extracurricular activities like participating in a dance club throughout college
3 years working experience as a software developer


I asked why I got placed on the waitlist and they wrote me back saying my verbal and reading sections were too low for the admission.
I got less than 40 in English sections before. yes.. English is not my first language and it is a huge obstacle for me even though I have overall good stats.

I received new PCAT scores and verbal and reading got better. (48% and 69% respectively) It's still low, but it's better than before.
My composite didn't increase much because Bio and Chem went down this time.

so.. I'm hoping that I can get pulled off the waitlist since my English sections got improved, which they said was the reason why I didn't get accepted right away. I'm also concerned about my interview. I think I gave good answers, but my English isn't as fluent as native speakers.. I don't know that was another reason.

What do you guys think? Are they still too low?
and do they consider the writing scores of PCAT?

(sigh... ) 🙁

wow...i didnt know that they really looked at individual scores and waitlisted off of 1 category... I am kinda worried now because I also got a composite 88% on the oct. pcat, but got a 42% in math....... i wonder if they have a minimum score for each category that you have to meet to be accepted 😕
 
did they say or did you ask whether you can take the TOEFL determining that you are more proficient than most ESL students? I didn't know that they are going to go back to your grades stuff to determine whether you can get in even after your interview. I believed that they have already determined that to be okay. what college did you go to if you dont mind us to know?

No, I haven't received anything since the acceptance packet. AND I still can't access the housing and immunizations since they transferred my accepted student checklist over to the online.midwestern site. I've been so busy with school and work that I haven't had time to worry about it yet. Can you still access your accepted student checklist on interact now?

I'm going to try calling again once finals are over if I still can't figure this out. The tech support had told me that the transfer was still in progress and all of those sorts of things would be up soon (but it's been over a month now). 😕

Please let me know if you figure it out!

I also got the invite on the 20th, went to schedule my interview and all they had was January. 🙁

Its probably Midwestern Glendale because I interviewed on Nov 15th and they said it would take a week or two while Midwestern Chicago (interviewed on Nov 13) said they would notify us early December.
 
if you get into both, which one would you go? I think i remembered you said that you didnt get an interview at glendale last year.
 
for those of you who received a letter from glendale. did you receive it at your preferred address or your permanent address?
 
Congratulations Hello 18! I believe we interviewed on the same day.
I found out today that I got accepted too....! I can't believe it... I thought I did horrible!! (well, not horrible, but not as well as I'd liked to.) I'm excited, of course, but this is very unexpected. I liked CPG but the only problem is that the school's so expensive... and I don't think I'll be able to get financial aids since I'm an international student. All this money talk is stressing me out! What do other people think about the tuition and other expenses ($50,000!!), compared to general 4-yr school? Again, Congratulations to all who got accepted!!

hello freezeandry:

actually, some other private schools in cali (ie Western, USC) charges the same tuition but FOUR years + higher living expenses.

plus, as an international student u won't b able to qualify for resident tuition for state-funded schools, so non-resident tuitions are pretty high too (i think ~25k for one particular school that i saw)

so really, u'll be done w/ school in 3 yrs and the earning potential of that one extra year is worth it.

it really isn't that bad after all :laugh:
