Hi,

I have just found on their website that they require Microbiology class w/ lab, which I don't/won't have.

Does anyone know how strict they are on their pre-req?

I emailed them and this is what they said:

Thank you for your interest in our program. Unfortunately, you will need to take a microbiology lab in order to fulfill the prerequisite requirement. However, keep in mind that you do not have to have it completed at the time you apply. It just needs to be taken before the program begins in August of 2011.

Hope that helps and goodluck!

Thank you for sharing that!
Did you just email them today?
Or you happen to have the same question/situation?

I got accepted to MWU and currently taking human anatomy to fulfill the requirement.

Yep, same situation, I took a Micro lecture but I never took the lab, and I emailed them a couple weeks ago. Midwestern Illinois also said that I could petition to have my genetics lab be credited as a micro lab, strictly for the requirement, as I told them my genetics lab had a lot of micro work

You should take the pre-req before matriculating into dental school to be safe. They can revoke your acceptance, if you do not complete the requirement. They are willing to work with you on the requirements, but to be on the safe side. I would just take the class. You don't have to take it at a 4 year college, a JC will suffice according to Dr. Polk (head of admissions at MWU-Glendale).

what's a "JC"?

JC = Junior College, or community college

I just took my finals in human anatomy and microbiology yesterday (I had to take them both as pre-req's for Midwestern), and we're moving to Arizona tomorrow! What a week!

Which Midwestern are you talking about?

haha, my anatomy final is this Thursday.
Where are you going to live in Arizona? Did you get an apartment?
And did you hear anything about financial info from MWU?

2PacClone23// MWU in arizona. I believe illinois accepts application starting this year.

My wife and I just bought a house and moved in on Friday night (near the water park). Thus far it's been a pretty horrible experience... the power company didn't turn on our power, and can't get out here until 5 pm tomorrow. We've had to sleep in hotels because it's too hot in the house. Also, after driving 15 hours all day Friday, we opened up the door to our house and found someone had smashed one of our windows and had kicked holes in our walls. Welcome to Arizona!

And no, I haven't heard anything about the financial aid, sorry.

The Micro Lab was the second biggest reason after the tuition cost why I wont apply to Midwestern again. I applied last year and took the Micro class because I knew they required it but it wasn't until about 2 months ago i looked and saw they needed the lab too. i guess no AZ heat for me.

Arizona without AC is near impossible to live.
