okey my aim school is MIDWESTERN UNIVERSITY in chicago ,,,can someone provide us with some stats..current students advises will be great..what they look for in a candidate..my GPA is 3.12 and i will take the PCAT this ocotber...how strong to get into this school...and anyone interested in applying for this schoool at both AZ or IL campuses...post here plzz thanks

Well, I applied last year with a 3.7 and an 86 on the PCAT and got waitlisted (although I did finally get accepted later in the summer)...but i had no pharmacy experience or anything, just a job at the mall. A lot of the people I went to the interview thing with had degrees already (just something i noticed from talking to people).

Im not really sure what their standards are, because I thought I would get in right away, and I got waitlisted. And I thought I would get waitlisted for Pitt, and I got in right away....so you never know, they may just surprise you.

3.0 gpa
bachelors in computer science

I got waitlisted and then in July they offered me a spot. (CPG)

My PCAT was 76, overall and science GPA are both 3.2 and i received an interview invitation to both school. No pharm exp. So there's still hope. AIm high on that PCAT and good luck.

To answer the above question, my PCAT score was 85 overall, but 65 on chemistry.

I applied on dec 31st and interviewed some time mid March. I think this definately hurt me, since its rolling admissions. Since you're interviewing this early in the admission process, IMO, you have a better chance of getting accepted.

OK.
-Graduated from ASU with computer science degree @ ~2.6gpa.
-took pre-reqs at a community college and had around ~3.8gpa.
- pharmCAS averaged my gpa at 3.0
-worked ~6 months as a pharm tech.
-pharm tech certified
-recent member of Phi Theta Kappa (internation honor society)
-did some community service work in high school. IE: volunteering at a soup kitchen

I think I did ok on my interview. I was nervous though. The school is pretty impressive and they also gave us free lunch!

wow that a big turn in ur life from computer to science...i wish u the best luck...so what was your GPA when u got admitted, did they ask u about ur 2.5 gpa, or they mainly focus on the pre reqs gpa, what about your pcat score?

They didn't ask about my GPA during the interview. When I got accepted my GPA was the same: 3.0 average. As mentioned above, my PCAT score was 85 overall, but 65 on the chem section.

I am really eager to get into MWU!!! I am concerned about the PCAT...I am taking Oct 20 and I am really nervous! I have taken before but my score was low 🙁 I have a fairly decent GPA and lots of pharm tech experience and extracurricular activities....!!! I visited the campus a couple of weeks ago and the people there seem really nice!! Good luck to everyone who's applying!!😀

hey guys,

i'm currently a PS-1 at MWU-Downers Grove and reading your posts brought back so many memories from last year's application cycle since I was in all yours shoes just a year ago! Normally at CCP there is a mandatory campus visit..but it's not really an interview, but more of a visit to get to know the staff, school, and program better. There was an essay portion, but the remainder of the day was just listening to presentations, talking with current students, and touring the school. HOWEVER, this year they will be requiring a formal interview.

I applied to 13 schools last year and got 10 interview invites. Went to only 3 interviews before I fell in love with this school, and I've never regretted my decision. The school makes me feel as if they really care for me, the campus is beautiful, great friends to meet, lots of individual attention...a far cry from my public school days with 30,000+ people on campus. My stats: 3.2 GPA, double majored at a top public university (While a lot of people I know in my class have bachelors, there are still a lot of young folks (around 20,21 years old) who got accepted here without a degree), 93 PCAT. Not much experience besides shadowing a pharmacist, but good essay (IMHO). My science GPA wasn't so hot (around 3.0) but I felt I got interviews from so many schools because of my PCAT score and essay.

Feel free to message me or post more questions about the school..I'd be happy to share my application and current PS-1 experiences with you! Good luck!

I'm applying to Midwestern. I feel like I'm really behind - haven't gotten anything together for PharmCAS, and I'm just now sending out for transcripts. However, I think my stats are strong - 3.8ish math and science GPA, 3.94 overall, 95 composite on the PCAT, 8 months pharmacy experience. Hopefully my GPA won't drop this semester, and I'll get an interview and kick ass. I also did retake the PCAT because of my chem score, so I hope my overall score didn't drop!

My application has been complete for a week. I'm curious--does CCP update Interact Now when you've been asked to interview? How long after completing your application did you get invited to interview?

my interact account doesnt reflect my interview, but i applied to both schools, il and az. it took 3 weeks from when they emailed me to tell me my app was complete to email for mcv

I just got invited for an interview for nov. 14th, so excited! Has anyone had an interview there already? if so, can you tell me what it was like? I checked interview feedbacks but nothing since march so for anyone who already interviewed, please update!

i got an email from them today. My interview is Nov. 14th. I submitted my pharmcas early August and I submitted my supplemental approximately at the end of September.

BTW...I scored a 79 on the PCAT. 90 in Chemistry and 89 in Biology.
I have a B.S degree in Biological Sciences and I've had 4 years of Pharmacy experience..Clerk/Technician.

hm im very confused

my MCV for ccp is on the 13th of Nov, a Tuesday.

everybody's saying they have a MCV on the 14th..the day after.

are they running two MCVs back to back? b/c the one prior is a month ago....

hopefully i don't have the date mixed up..but i triple-checked!

I also received an email for November 14th--I was going to buy my plane tickets today. I will call them today when I RSVP just to double check. They must be doing 2 back to back.

I received a PM for my stats earlier so I will post now.

3.5 Science GPA and cum.
97 PCAT
Will earn BS in Biology in Spring. Already have BA in history.
Paid summer research experience in physiology.
No pharmacy experience. But strong science job background.

i had my interview about 10 days ago, and we should know our status by the end of this week or the next. it was definitely different than what people went to in previous years, this time they interview 6 people at a time. they asked probably 6-8 questions, but don't ask me what they were because i honestly can't remember. I think it was the fact that i was more nervous than i have ever been in my life (1st pharm interview!). the interview itself last for an hour, and just be confident and know the standard pharmacy interview questions. Plus, bring a granola bar or something, they have food in the start (before 8:30) but then you don't have a chance to eat anything until 1:30. Good Luck! This is the longest month ever...

o crap, i was counting on an easy campus visit w/out all the interview pressure... and now im going to be all stressed again.

but i suppose it's more fair than just a campus visit tho...how else could they judge us individually!

how much is midwestern? is it expensive as hell?
tuition is about 25000, the area is expensive for living, 900/month for a apartment.
they estimate the cost would be 45000 for 9months period.

Michelle,
I am scheduled for an interview on the 13th also.
The only thing, so many people have already interviewed THIS year, but they haven't posted any detailes about the interview or any feedback. Do we need to open a new thread with this question, you think? It would help greatly to know all the details and how the questions are asked and what are the questions...
