Sorry, but I had to laugh at an "osteopathic" radiology residency with faculty consisting of mostly MD's and two DO's who have an "interest" in nuclear medicine.

Dr. Caleel is an endrocrinologist as far as I know and teaches "History of Medicine" to the 1st years at CCOM for a couple weeks in the first quarter.

and by the way...My post was not meant to make fun of Dr Marshall or the residency. I just had this mental image of having to be on call EVERY NIGHT. That would be a nightmare!

I'm sure he's not on call every night. At some point he had to have enough time to shoot those Hydroxycut commercials.

NoleRad: yeah, Marshall is a good guy, I graduated with him and he was very cool to hang with.

DelicateFade: so I see you are another PT going back to school. What was the motivation and are you enjoying your decision? I was bored and now am loving life as a PGY3 rad resident.

I knew in my second year of PT school that it wasn't for me. Just didn't enjoy the material or the work all that much. I still graduated and worked for a couple years though, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to go back to med school.

Looks like the CCOM students are pretty heavily favored there... You think it's worth using an elective rotation if you are from another school?

there is no preference for CCOM students....outside students are encouraged to rotate thru the program.

That doesn't mean CCOM students aren't favored....remember they spend a lot more time at Oly than anyone else and have more opportunity to network and form relationships. I would expect any medical student to have somewhat of an advantage when applying to a residency at his/her home institution.

Agreed. It helps tremendously to do a rotation where you want to go. Some of us were limited to 2 months of radiology. I know of someone (can't remember the school), who did 6 months of radiology! I don't know if he got in anywhere, but with that amount of time spent at different sites, I imagine he did.

Also, yes, I too knew it (PT) wasn't for me early on. I, unfortunately, didn't decide to go back to school until 8 years of working. I'm amazed at how many PT's I saw and see in medical school. Should tell prospective PT students something. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good profession. It's just too much of the same old, same old day in and day out. I guess I didn't drink enough of the "PT is the greatest" cool-aid.

Is the PGY-1 year linked to the residency? Any info on # of applicants per year? Thanks
