has anyone applied/gotten an interview/or been accepted to the Pharmacy Program at MWU CCP for the fall 2005 school year??

Does anyone know how roughly how many people CCP will accept for the fall 2005 school year??

--thanks

Midwestern - 207 first year students

applicant to acceptance ratio - 5:1

To my knowledge, CCP's average GPA and PCAT scores of accepted applicants by far (or at least since mid-November or so) has been 3.5/75% respectively. My GPA is a 3.41/4.00, and I have a composite PCAT score of 84. I'm a bit worried that my GPA is going to bring me down as a competitive applicant? Are my chances questionable, or is my PCAT score sufficient enough to compensate for my GPA? All of my pre-req's have been completed at a university, but I am also finishing up a BS this spring. Does anyone know if grades for current courses will still be taken into consideration despite having already submitted the application?

where did you get this information? specifically the 3.5 GPA and 75th percentile PCAT score? does this data pertain to the entering class for fall 2005 or is it data from last year?

My situation is somewhat similar to yours and i am worried for nearly the same reason as you. I have a 3.6/4.0, but a low 73% on the PCAT, and have completed the majority of my pre-reqs already at a university.

don't forget though that the personal statement from pharmcas, as well as the essays written for the supplemental application all have an effect on the admissions decision......things that i am certianly banking on being there for me.

The average GPA and PCAT score pertains to the stats for the 2005 entering class..particularly those already accepted. If you've received your supplemntal app. from CCP, the letter that came along with it mentions an "Interact Now" account on the website that u just simply register for and obtain a user name. You can post messages to the admissions counselor regarding any specific questions you have about admissions, as well as check the status of your application and whether or not they've received each document. That was a question I had in particular, and I was told that that is the average so far for those accepted. I noticed that u're in the same boat I'm in as well 🙂 , although my situation is the reverse. My GPA was close to a 3.5 (3.49 to be exact, which is the university GPA), but when I registered through PharmCAS, I guess a national standard was used to calculate the GPA's, so it brought mine down to a 3.41. And yes, I am definitely counting on my personal statement and supplemental materials as well to get me in (CCP is my first choice school!!). Just gotta have hope I guess. 😉 Last years stats were a GPA of 3.4 supposedly and around a 78/79 (?) PCAT composite. So, it definitely appears to be getting more competitive (Yikes!) Also, do you know how long it will take for the scores to go through their system? (because to my knowledge, they don't begin reviewing your app. until they've received everything).

I sent them an e-mail directly through their main webpage asking about my application status and they e-mailed me back saying that they changed my app status to 'complete' and that i would not hear from them for at least 2-3 weeks. I recieved this email on monday december 13, 2004 so i'm guessin two-three weeks from then. But i'd guess that it takes about that much time from whenever your application is complete.

thanks for posting that much needed info.....are you an illinois resident and/or attend UIC by chance?

Yes, I am an Illinois resident. I attend Loyola.

Lucky u, I just found out that I needed to direct my PCAT scores to PharmCAS on the Harcourt application. Instead, I had them sent directly to my designated schools. Doh!! 😳 Stinks, cuz it'll take another 2 or so weeks b4 CCP gets my PCAT scores cuz it has to go through pharmCAS and then pharmCAS has to send it to CCP, and then as u said, perhaps another 2-3 weeks before I hear from them. 😱

GPA and PCAT scores are important for intrviews and to be considered further for acceptance. If your GPA and PCAT scores do not cut it, they will not even bother looking at personal statement and essays. That is why I always stress doing an easy major to get yourself in the door. I have a degree in German and just finished my first semester of pharmacy school. By the way, Midwestern CCP is not worth the trouble. I have never been to such a depressing campus.

That's a nice way to judge a school - by its appearance. This is the third time I've seen you make this comment. I visited the school in November, and I happened to like it. Besides the campus, I felt a sense of family there. The professors seemed very eager and willing to assist the students in any way. Their curriculum, in my opinion, is a good one. My point is that just because your perception of their campus is a negative one doesn't mean that the school is no good or "not worth the trouble." 🙄

I think the reason for the 2-3 week period is bc CCP is on a 2 week winter break right now..they ended the quarter on Friday, otherwise I think ur app. would have been reviewed earlier.

really? i thought that the admissions office would be open during this week....at least until thursday or something.....i didn't think the WHOLE school shut down for winter break......

thanks for the input though, it seems like that could be a valid reason...

No prob! Not sure about whether the admissions office will or will not be open this week..all I know is that pharmacy students' last day before winter break was Friday. I have not received any responses to my questions, which are usually posted w/in 24 hrs. after submitted, so I'm assuming that it is closed.

My goodness....I didn't know people got so personal on this website. I'm just trying to offer my advice. I grew up in Chicago and have alot of knowledge about the schools there. I thought the atmosphere, school, tour, & professors were depressing. That kind of thing is important to me when I was making a decision on what school to attend. Relax my friends, it is just an opinion. Someone might find it useful. I'll lick my wounds for now and get ready for a fight another day. Remember my fellow student pharmacists...it is all about the patients.

Got my acceptance letter today from Midwestern CCP.. they said we would know before Christmas. They're a little late, but I'm not complaining! Just thought I would share. Anyone else hear back from them?

Congrats! I haven't received a letter yet, but I was told that I've been placed on the alternate list. I'm fine with that, seeing as how I've been accepted to another school already. 🙂 Don't forget to post in the "Roll Call - Class of 2008/2009" thread. 🙂

Congratulations!! 🙂 I'm soo envious! 😉 Are you from Illinois by any chance?

My application isn't complete yet..still waiting for my PCAT scores. I called the office of admissions/emailed them, and haven't heard from them..I think they're on winter break. So frustrating..my school didn't even post fall grades until after pharmCAS sent out the academic updates to the schools..grr..!!

How long does it generally take MWU CCP to send out their decision letters after their interview? And also, for those who have already been accepted, did they notify you by regular mail, e-mail, or both?? I was informed of an invitation to interview on the Jan 6 date, and had recieved the e-mail on December 16, but the actual physical letter did not come in until December 24. I only ask because I've signed up to take the Jan. 22 2005 PCAT Test, and will probably vouch not to take it if I'm informed about the admissions decision before that (that is, if its good new, i.e. an acceptance).

--thanks

and congrats to kgymnast19

Nparikh,

Just wondering when you got your application in. Did you take the November PCAT? I was curious as I sent my app in on December 18 and took the Nov. PCAT but have not heard back as yet. Im assuming I wont be interviewd till February if I get one.

thanks!

i went in for the mandatory campus visit on Nov 29th and was just informed via regular mail of my status this past week. it takes about a month for their decision, but it may be sooner for you since i had to wait through the holidays

I had sent my application in on December 8 (fed-ex next day), and I recieved an e-mail on december 11-12 informing me that my application status on the InteractNOW webpages had been changed. My application status had been changed to "complete" and I recieved an e-mail on december 16 informing me that I was eligable for a visit. The actual physical piece of mail did not come in until December 24 though. I had taken the October 23 PCAT test.

Congrats on your MCV! 👍

I remember you telling me that you emailed them a while ago to check on your application status. How long after you emailed them did they reply back? I've been doing everything I could -- calling the school, emailing, asking questions in the private chat conference on the Interact Now forum, and I haven't received answers in regard to my question/simply getting their voicemail at the admissions office. I assumed they were on winter break. I received replies by the admission counselor about other questions, but not with regard to my test scores. The only thing my application has been missing for the past 2 months now are my PCAT scores!!..grr..I accidentally sent my PCAT scores directly to the schools I applied to (dumb move! 🙄 ), and I requested for my scores to be sent via PharmCAS 2 or so weeks ago. PharmCAS has received them; I called them and asked if they have been sent out, and they told me "yes, most definitely..plus the scores should be available for the schools online." I'm getting a bit worried...I know, I shouldn't, but it's so frustrating. 😡 😕 😱

Hey, thanks. I think it was about a day or two, no more then that before I recieved an e-mail from them informing me that my application status had been changed to "complete". But i did not get one of those automated messages for about a day after that. Don't worry, it'll all work out in the end, if i remember correctly you did pretty well on the pcats and your gpa was high too.....

Hey, how do you know that this decision has been made on your application even though you haven't received a letter yet? Also, if you feel comfortable enough, do you think you could tell me your GPA and PCAT scores so I can guage my own academic standings and see where I would potentiall fall?

thanks
