Midyear

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
All work and no play for this one. The strict pharma regulation is great for healthcare but not so for conventions.. No fun when all the reps have been terminated. 🙄
You mean you didn't go to the pharmacy solutions party this year and drink all their alcohol?!?

No way, the schwag was almost better! There were textbooks to be had

I did see Cyclo.. but she didn't see me. I feel like a stalker!

:meanie:

I ended up not going - a friend from HS lives in Vegas so I hung out with him that night and did bar trivia instead. I wasn't able to find anyone to take my beads!

Glad you had fun! I'm glad to be on my way home, although I did some extra networking in the Vegas airport with people I met at various sessions through the week.

success! Every year I meet a new SDNer in person. Who wants to be next year?

Actually I met 2 this year and last... I'll start taking names now.

You were much shorter than I had anticipated.

I saw that Z guy creeping around. He doesn't know I know who he is...and had no idea who I am.

I am entirely uninterested in doing a residency, but after reading this thread, im thinking it might pay to go to midyear one of these years just to meet all you nerds and "crash" some poster presentations etc. Then again, i dont know if i could stand being around people who are that interested in academia for more than a few hours. Luckily i could go out drinking and gambling afterwards

The height (well, lack thereof) helps quite a bit for stalking.

It's in NOLA next year. We'll have to meet up. Street cars, restaurants, daiquiris, etc.

I'm always down for good food and some drinks. I did sort of throw up out the window of a street car the last time I was there, so I think I might skip that part.

That's why you buy the big beer bottles. They double as barf bags, or at least it worked last Mardi Gras. 😛

Bourbon St. gets old really fast. If you wanted to shop or hang out certain places outside of the French Quarter or whatever, we could do that.

Sounds good to me! I was thinking next year is Anaheim though? (Booo!)

I was looking for you, I figured you would find me somehow.......maybe because Oklahoma only had 5 posters in the student section.....

Anyone else see The Baddest Bug CE? Any CE where one of the presenter drops the F bomb for entertainment value is badass.

Oh, and I'm pretty much convinced out of residency for this cycle after going to Midyear. 😉

I wanted to go but didn't make it.

I had multiple friends who ruled out residencies after midyear last year

I became uninterested after the first day of the residency showcase. Didn't go to any of the ones on the following days. Instead, I got to enjoy the free lunch and dinner CE's and had fun in Vegas.

The industry showcase was a huge disappointment. 🙁 I wish I had been to Midyear before the new laws on drug reps. I was glad to have gotten contacts with so many hospital pharmacy recruiters though. All I got for free was a lunchbox, but the smoothies were awesome. 👍

And it was probably one of the most awesomist posters you have ever seen.

We're you one of those creepers that kept walking by and rubber necking at it?

Oh yeah...the most awesomest poster.. u huh.

I didn't keep walking by nor rubber neck.. I was in a group.. saw you, your poster, and your buddy.. I chuckled.. then kept walking. :meanie:

I went for the first time - it's long, kinda boring, and didn't really retain any information. I had a couple CE codes and had to look at the pp online because I didn't even remember being at that particular presentation (yes I was completely sober at the time).

I went to my school's reception and only knew one former professor.
Saw a couple people I knew. Tuesday night went to a equipment companies reception and they had an open bar, met some cool people.

I felt like a ******* most of the time, all these residents think they are awesome, and some really good presenters (Robert Page from Denver) made me feel like I have not accomplished anything in life and I know nothing.

Met a guy at the expo who developed some awesome medication reconciliation program, but of course our hospital is too cheap and would rather have us waste time clarifying 8 out of 10 home meds.

Overall it was ok, but I might have a better time when it's not in Vegas (NEVER stay at Harrah's), been there enough times, I'm over it. I got my CE's done tho!
