First of all, thank you for those who donates their time to answer some of our newbies' questions. I learned a lot about the dental HSPS program and the military. I appreciated it.

Several reasons I want to join the Army, 1) 100% tuition paid 2) get to see the world as a professional and not some backpackers only have 2 dimes to buy 2 loafs of bread for a month 3) stable income 4) job placement guaranteed 6) get to serve my new country 6) good for those who wants to specialize...but why? Why do you have a better chance to specialize than those who aren't in the military? I'm not talking about the 1-yr and 2-yr comprehensive programs. Could someone please elaborate a little more in depth? Thank you.

If you check some of the other threads you can see specific numbers for Army and Air Force (You have to call the Navy to find out). Most Army specialties have better than a 1:2 acceptance rate (except Ortho 1:5). Compare that to the civilian side where you will always have more than 2 people competing for a spot. Thus the claim that you have a better chance specializing in the Army.
