First time posting, been doing my research for the past few days so hear I go...I'm taking summer classes right now and will graduate in August with a BBA in healthcare systems management. Recently I've spoken to a few professors and doctors, and I've recently thought about eventually attending medical school. I'm 29, a military veteran, GPA is a 3.2 at the moment will be a little higher once this semester is over. I have just enough time left on my GI Bill for the post bacc program to be covered 100% if I start attending post bacc school Jan. 17'

When I was HS I didn't take school serious at all and grades were pretty bad including my SAT, and my freshman year of college. However, once I went into the military I finally took school seriously. I don't really have a lot of math or science classes which is why I think post bacc would be perfect for me. Columbia's post bacc program starts in January, seems to be one of top in the country, and they seem to be military friendly. With my SAT scores so low, and horrible HS transcript, would I have a good chance of getting accepted to Columbia's post bacc program even though I've done a complete 360 with my grades?

OP, could you possibly take the GRE to make yourself a more appealing candidate? Hang in there!

I think this is really amazing. You're almost exactly where I was 4 years ago.
What I did? DIY post-bacc at IS school

Disadvantage to this route: your benefits will (almost certainly) not cover a non-degree seeking program

Advantage: if you can, save that GI bill for the cost of Med School tuition!

Lemme know if you have any questions

Edit: I see that time is the limiting factor for the GI Bill. How long ago did you get out?

Thanks for the reply! And congrats I got out of the military in 2014. As of December of this year i'll have approximately 17 months left on my G.I. Bill. After doing more research i was thinking about another program as well that I found to be quite interesting it's the Post Bacc Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University. It works out perfectly because it's a 1yr Master's degree program as well. If anyone has any feedback or insight on this program that would be great.
