Fee-for-service Hypnosis Interventionist Opportunity

The Integrative Behavioral Medicine Program within the Center for Behavioral Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai invites applications for a doctoral-level psychologist, or advanced doctoral student, to serve as a research interventionist for an NIH-funded clinical trial led by Dr. Guy H. Montgomery (PI) and Dr. Julie Schnur (Co-I). The goal of the trial is to reduce pain and improve medication adherence in breast cancer survivors. Specifically, the trial focuses on the use of hypnosis to reduce aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal pain and to improve aromatase-inhibitor adherence in breast cancer survivors. The interventionist’s responsibilities will include conducting all study intervention sessions (hypnosis, empathic listening control) and completing all relevant documentation. Prior experience with hypnosis is not required, although prior experience with similar cognitive-behavioral interventions (e.g., imagery, progressive muscle relaxation) is preferred. We are happy to provide training in the study’s manualized hypnosis intervention.

We are looking for interventionists to work approximately 4-6 hours per week. Our philosophy is to offer patients intervention sessions at days/times that are convenient for them, so days/hours will vary from week to week, and scheduling flexibility is required.

The position would be ideal for an ABD student, someone beginning a private practice looking to learn a new skill, or an 3rd year or higher doctoral student looking for additional hours.
