Hi Guys and Gals 🙂

Has anybody been called for an interview at Minnesota board. I have applied and waiting for them to call for interview. I am kind of surprised as they are changing their rules every now and then, initially they accepted ECE now they want ICA credential report and initially there wasnt interview now there is interview process before they let you take WREB or NERB. 😕

Does anybody know about that

Do let me know

Thanks

Vennai

Hi Anajaali

You have to clear Part 1 and 2 NBDE before you apply. You can check all these information from Minnesota dental board home page and check for foreign trained dentist section.

Vennai

please give me some more information ,if we clear this we don't need to do DDS or we have to do it. pari

As you can see on their website you need not necessarily have a postgraduate degree/course to apply. But it seems that they prefer only the candidates with a postgraduate degree. If you have a GPR/AEGD/Masters in USA things are straightforward and it is almost guaranteed that you will get approved. Still you should complete part 1 and 2 NBDE.
1) Looks like lot of applications are pouring into their office and they are adding a new hurdle every month. One such thing is ICA and interview with the board. ICA requires all the documents to be sent directly from the school. They don?t even have a website/e-mail. Whatever you send still they would be short of some document, which you and your dean never heard of.
2) If you cross this hurdle second one is experience, Notarised photocopies of proof of actively practicing dentistry for the past two calendar years from the date-completed documents are received at their office. This means you should be practising dentistry while they receive your application. Obviously we can?t practise dentistry in USA (if you are u need not apply for this). This will eliminate people who are here on dependent, F1 visas for some time and allows only people who are practising outside USA. (The trick here is, they are asking to come for the interview, and naturally they will face visa problems and this would eliminate some people).
3) Committee is considering to review only limited number of applicants per session (what they told me is they will review only 11 applications per session. This means that even if your file were complete it would take 6-12 months for the committee to review your case

hi nondentist ,
u surely put things in the right perspective for me ..thank u so much for the prompt reply.u sure cleared a lot of doubts i had in my mind ...looks like it going to be atough process all said and done .
maybe AEGD followed by MS at the same univ seems a foolproof way to get license .but then again who knows how difficult/easy things are for getting into AEGD
but iam told doing aegd is beneficial as it may cut short ur MS if u want to do that..
here's wishing allof us good luck !!
thanks again nondentist for ur reply
take care

Hi Aniravi

It may not be as easy as told like what non dentist mentioned but trust me even getting into AEGD and doing MS is not easy as told. I have heard many people get through Minnesota boards like wise same too with California. Each path has its own difficulty its upto you to choose either of them

Vennai

hi Vennai ,
thanks for replying ....everyinput each of u gives is really valuable and appreciated.
i stillhave to give my part two, so ...applying for licensure is a long way...its good to know the process though .
all the very best of luck to u !!!
take care

Hi Nondentist

I take serious objections to what you said. I can show you couple of dentists who were on F1 visas here in US and got Minnesota Licensure. So what you told partly is not true. Its true that ICA is tough credentialing agency and also that there are lots of hurdles in Minnesota licensure but people do get over that.

I don't see anything onjectionable in nondentist's post. On the contrary it was very good and informative post, after a long time on international forum.

Vennai if you check Minnesota board's updated website, you will understand what nondentist is talking about. I do agree recent changes will keep dentists who are already in US, and not practising, away from applying, at the same time you can't take National Boards outside US (in general).

Looks like who has spent 2 years in residency program are eligible, for rest it is going to be tough from now onwards.

Good Luck Guys !!

I wonder why you misunderstood what I said. I know couple of guys who were doing Research in dentistry who got through Minnesota licensure and thats the reason I objected. Call Minnesota Boards and find out for yourself.

Its not about past my friend, its about present and future !!

Im just wondering if one passes the ADA Parts 1 & 2. Can one apply for a Minnesota license on a tourist visa? Or do you have to be a green-card holder or an immigrant? Looking at possible options in Minnesota.

That is only for limited number that u r talking.Think about very very huge amount of foreign trained dentists who are still trying to get in. :meanie:

Icaworld hasn't put up a website - still under construction. Anyone with an electronic app form from ica world? I would appreciate a copy, please send it [email protected]. Thanks.
Emailed them for an app form but no replies even after 2 weeks. weird service. The Minnesota Board should have at least 2 credentialing services. They should have retained ECE. Better service.

I have been watching icaworld.com website since May 2004, still it says,
? We are currently under construction?. They don?t have an electronic application form and even strange not even an e-mail ID.(their website has something , but it doesnt work) When I asked for their E-mail ID to follow up my application and they told me ? we are not capable of emailing? (which century we are living in?). Even strange is, I wanted to take a Xerox copy of an application form of friend of mine, but they told me that we can?t do this
So only ways is calling them and obtain an application form. You can fax but it is not guaranteed. I am sure you will have tough time if you are staying out side USA.

Hi,this thread is really helpful. Thanks to all for their input.I had a question. If one dental training for two years(probably AEGD) ,then clears the licensing requirements, what degree does one get?Would it be a D.D.S?

nondentist

Can I have a scanned copy of the app form even though it wont be useful. I'm interested to know what are the document requirements for the course by course evaluation for the minnesota licensure. There's a thread saying that it (course description & transcript of records) needs to be directly sent by the institution (dental school). Is there anything else that needs to be sent? I want to be prepared before I leave for the US this week. I would appreciate a reply. Thank you again.

I am sorry, we had only one copy and we have already sent it. But I can tell you what they require.
1) Application form with notary.
2) Notarised or certifies copy of final secondary school
Following documents directly from the Dental school:
3) Notarised or certified copy of all diplomas, certificates or degrees
4) Transcript requisition form signed by dean (which you will get along with application form)
5) Transcript which includes dates of attendance of the program, complete listing of all the courses, final grades, examination results, contact or clock hours
6) Syllabus for the program
7) Recommended study list for the above degree
8) If you have done Masters, you have to send all the above documents for Masters degree also, directly from that school.

Directly from the licensing board:
9) Letter of good standing DIRECTLY from the licensing board.

Huh, quiet a lot, isn?t that?

They will not accept letters by private couriers like DHL, FEDEX etc. But you (sorry.. school) can send by registered letter of Government post only.

nondentist

Thank you very much for your valuable assistance. Im going to compile all the documentary requirements.

Hello

Anyone knows if I have to traduce all my syllabus. or only a resumen of these. Because each syllabus has about 20-25 pages. and I have almost 50 syllabus (of all my years). That mean that: 50x25= 😱 (I must to sell my house, if I want to traduce all these things)
