I was looking at the U of Minnesota Dental school and was wondering if the Reciprocity program applies to graduate level school and not just the undergraduate program?

Also, for anyone that goes here, do you like the school?

Thanks

BTW, nice forums.

I'd contact the program office to find that out. My hunch is that it doesn't. If you are serious about going to Uminnesota dental, it would be well worth your while to establish state residency though if you are able. I haven't toured the dental school, but I've heard great things about it and I love the area.

I am a WI resident and the answer is there is no reciprocity. I checked on it already this year as I was sort of considering Dental School (decided on MD School). So get ready to shell out the bucks!

Here is the email I received:

The Minnesota does not have a reciprocity agreement with Wisconsin for graduate or professional school. However, you will receive admissions preference as a regional applicant. It is not too late to apply for 2005. The application cycle just opened last month. The postmark deadline date for your AADSAS application is December 1, 2004.

Hope this helps.

So can you establish residency in that state if you lived there for a year while going to school?

WI residents don't receive reciprocity, however, this year they gave out 7 scholarships to regional residents that made up for the tutition difference, so basically you end up paying in-state tuition. This is something to keep in mind. As far as the school goes, it seems like it is a great school. I start my first year in a couple weeks. I'll let you know how it goes. BTW, I am a WI resident (Madison Grad).

I'm a WI resident, but attending U of MN as an undergraduate (we do have reciprocity for undergrad). Talking with dental students here who were also WI residents, it seems like most were able to get in state tuition after a year of paying out of state.

Cool, I attend UW-Madison right now. I really liked the campus at Minnesota, it looked like a great school. I want to stay close to WI but i wasnt too fond of Marquette University.

That's great to know. That really would save a lot of money.

Dude, go to marquette, its an awsome school with a much better basketball team than UofM and you got summerfest every summer. Its a no brainer! Oh did I forget to mention that Marquette has a brand spankin new sweet as he11 clinic that blows the pants off that dump in Minnesota. (they still do dentistry with flashlights at UofM right?)

Later homie.

i attended UW-madison but it was too much partying and i couldn't keep myself in line so i transferred to University of Minnesota - Duluth Campus. I get reciprocity but will not get it in professional school. as far as marquette vs. UMN dental?? not too sure, would be a tough tough choice. but as a wisco resident, i gotta like my chances at marquette more.
