Hi. I am currently applying for the Army Dental HPSP and about 8 months ago I had a flare up of eczema. It was just one or two small red spots (half an inch in diameter) on my back. I turned in my medical records for this already and still awaiting on their decision if I could take the physical. I know that for the regular enlisting army people, this is an automatic disqualification. Is this the same for AMEDD applicants?

Don't know. This board is not the best place to ask about medically disqualifying conditions. I would ask your recruiter you are working with.

Having worked at the local Navy recruiting district (main office) in the officer's programs during my time off from d-school, I have an idea on how this works. Military wide - eczema is considered a disqualifying condition. It doesn't matter if you are a grunt soldier, seaman, airman or marine or you are wanting to be an officer in one its programs. But, there are instances where waivers have been granted for minor cases of eczema. The granting of a waiver is on a case by case basis. Getting a waiver can take a while, so be patient. There is nothing you can do really to pushy this process by any faster. Just be grateful if they come back and grant a waiver.

I really hope you're being sarcastic, but don't think you are. Eczema? Really?
