Hey guys! I'm having a little dilemma and not sure which path I should take. I am currently debating on whether or not to minor in Business. My intentions on minoring in business is to enhance my application/improve my gpa and also my interest in the business field. I always been working in the business field since I was young because my parents are both in business. I am a bit on a tight schedule because I plan on graduating next year, June 2010 and I am studying abroad this Fall. Today, I found out that many of my classes at the university I am studying at London do not satisfied the requirements for my minor in bus at my university, however, there were a few psychology courses. My dilemma is whether or not I should minor in business or should I continue taking science courses and psychology courses (SCCO counts all psychology courses as part of pre req. gpa) to improve my gpa?

I honestly do not think minoring in business will enhance your application that much. In the whole long run of things, I'm pretty sure minoring in business would help you once you are an optometrist...it will def help you if you ever want to run your own practice. But, as long as you complete your optometry prerequisite courses and do well in your major...I do not think you need to go through this extra effort. Try raising your gpa by doing better in prerequisite courses, prerequisite course grades matter more. When I went down to Houston School of Optometry, I specifically asked them, "Does being a psychology major make me any less competitive than say someone who was a chemistry/biology major?" And they said no, it does not matter what you major/minor in...as long as it is not music/art...
Hope this helps
