Hello all! Just had a few questions about this profession and would appreciate any incite you could offer.
1)Chronic vs. Acute foot care Ive heard somewhere that insurance may not cover an acute injury as compared to a chronic problem. This sounded silly to me, but I could not find a definitive answer.
2)Language barriers- I know this depends on the area, but do most clinics have an interpreter on board, or do they use phone services?
3)Scope of practice- How much of the limb is available. I know it is foot an ankle, but Ive heard of some states allowing treatment up to the knee. Is this true?
4)Do hospitals ever hire a full time podiatrist other than for surgeries, or is it only practice base?
5)Student run clinics-Curious if any schools out there have these. Currently Im a CLS board member/volunteer for a student run clinic at UNMC. This has been a great resource to put that theory into practice and work with other professions.
Thanks for any info you provide!
