Pretty generic confirmation email from MSU today. Kinda scared the piss out of me. 😉

Interview invitations will be extended via e-mail at the end of December. Actual interviews will take place during the last week of January and the first week of February."

And we're getting closer!

hmm, didn't get mine yet...probably will get it in the next few days.

Got mine today as well. Its always exciting getting confirmation. I certainly doesn't hint at acceptance, but I think we all hope that it does. Good luck to everyone!

I got it too. I'm nearly positive that admissions officers are sadists who enjoy watching us squirm. AHHHH! I just cant wait till March when we have word from some schools.

Nahh, there is no stronger advocate for you at Miss State then Missy Hadaway. She's amazing - and really does want every to succeed. As it gets closer, feel free to ask me anything (as it seem like AlonePear has retired for the time being 😉

Missy is awesome. Every time I would call to make sure scores and transcripts got in, she stop what she was doing to go check. Very friendly! It's a nice feeling when you're new to the whole process.

And thanks No Imagination!

I got mine too a few days back! Glad to see the process is happening! I feel like normally at this time of year I'm thinking about how the holiday season seems to fly by.... now I just feel like the amount of time left to acception/ rejection is about to fly by!!!!

Another update! Everyone probably got this:

Hello again from Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine! We wanted to touch base with everyone to let you know that we continue to work through application files for the Class of 2014.
Here are a few reminders for you:
(1) We plan to complete our application reviews by mid-December, and you should receive email
notification from us by late December regarding your interview status, i.e. whether or not you received one. Please keep an eye on your email.
(2) Interviews are scheduled for January 25-26, 2010 and February 1-4, 2010. West Virginia and South Carolina interviews will be conducted on January 25, Mississippi interviews will be conducted on January 26, and the rest of the interviews will be conducted on one of the February dates.
(3) If you have courses scheduled this fall or next spring and those courses are among our prerequisites, you will be expected to successfully complete those courses. Please remember that we do not allow summer 2010 courses – All requirements must be met by the end of the spring 2010 semester.
Again, we thank you for your interest in our College of Veterinary Medicine. As always, if you have questions or if we can be of assistance to you, please contact us. (Our offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Wednesday through Friday this week.)

I agree, when I was applying to MSU she was my saving grace. Be grateful for her because I found all of the other schools to be VERY heartless!

My heart stop beating when I got my email! Then I started laughing when I read it. It was really nice to see that they will keep up updated. They do seem to care! Glad I applied there.

They are my only hope I have 3.99 but only 990 GRE, but I had 2 friends who got in with lower GREs Has anyone heard

I had a lower GRE

3.99 + MS resident = Should be a shoe in (assuming you dont screw up the interview & have some experience)

Just got an email from Mississippi State rejecting me...did not expect to hear from them this early!

just got an interview for Feb. 1st

Invited for Feb, 4th

Looks like Jackson MS or Birmingham AL would be your best bet.

Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

February 3rd!!

SOOOOOO EXCITED!!

I honestly thought the e-mails would not be out until the 28th!!

aaahhh😀

I believe I read that GTR is the closed airport. Not 100% sure though. How far is Jackson from the school?

Rejected.

I'll admit, I'm a little heartbroken.

From the little research I just did it looks like GTR, Columbus is closest and least expensive (i'm coming from Missouri).

SOOOO excited! Congrats everyone!

Well i'll be driving from Auburn, AL to Starkville for a Feb 3rd interview. I'll be going up the day before (Feb 2nd) and would be willing to pick someone up from the Birmingham airport if they want! Might save you some money and i'll have some company in the car!

I'll be there for February 1st! Can't wait to meet some of you there!!! Although, when I told my dad where I'd need to book a flight, he kind of looked at me with this, "WHERE did you say you're going?" expression. Guess Starkville is a little off the beaten track. 😀

So do you guys think they will still be sending out interview invites on Monday? Or just rejections 🙁 Anyone else not heard from them like me?

I don't mean to be a downer... but the email they sent me inviting me to interview said the office would be closed until January 4th... 🙁Take that for what you will

Are you guys going to the pizza party??

I can't quite decide if I should say yes or not. I'm probably driving there, and it's an 11 hour drive. Unluckily, my interview is on a Wednesday, so that means I'm going to already be missing a great deal of classes.

My Tuesday class ends at 1:30 and if I left right after, I would get in town around midnight and miss the pizza party. (and I'll probably be missing that class on Thursday as well unless I left immediately after my interview and drove through the night, and it's Biochem -OUCH).

Or is the pizza party worth it enough, despite that I will probably miss both classes of Biochem??

advice!!

I'm going to go even if I have to miss 3 days of class. I'm not saying it will increase your chances...but i'd put as much effort into getting into vet school as I can and hopefully your grades for the last semester won't matter!!

I think getting into town at a reasonable time of day AND being able to go to the pizza party is definitely worth skipping a class. Biochem is pretty nasty, but I'd go for it as long as you think you can make up the lost time in the following weekend.

I'm going to the pizza party, but then again, I don't have classes to worry about, and I've got vacay time saved up at work. Sounds like a win/win to me. I'll be at the Sunday night pizza party, looking forward to meeting some of you there!

I believe that they give a tour of a school the night before the interviews so I think it would be worth going to the pizza party/tour

Me too! Planning on taking some vacation hours and hoping to head home Tuesday morning. I'll be seeing you on Sunday! 🙂

Absolutely! Don't know how well I'll take to a southern summer, but we'll see! 🙄

Yeah, same here!
Assuming I get in to Miss or anywhere way down South, I might end up leaving my pup with my parents or someone. At least for the summer months--poor thing'll be miserable with all her hair and all that heat! She's definitely built for snow.

I've never been farther South than Maryland in my life, or farther west than Illinois, so this should be interesting! I'm really looking forward to seeing the school, and certainly looking forward to a bit of a break from this below zero weather.

ETA: I just looked at a weather report for Starkville, and it said the average summer temp was only 80...? Is that true? Obviously, there's like 90% humidity, but I was imagining worse, I think.

Well I go to school in Alabama and it certainly gets hot in the summer, but it's really not that bad. I'd say the temperature at its hottest ranges from 85-95. The humidity is what will get you. We do have nice winters 🙂

I'm at UF and we get come pretty stifling hot summers - no breeze and 90+ degrees in the afternoons...

Hey
im a student at UF and i was wondering if anyone else from UF got an interview?

Thanks everyone for the advice!

I'm definitely going to go now... besides, if I get in, all I need is a 'C' in Biochem then right?? 😀

So for those of you who have a Feb 3rd interview, I'll see you at the pizza party then!
