hmmm no calls here. its not alphabetical and its not by interview day....
my last two guesses are they are starting at the top of the list (by who did the best?) or perhaps doing it by location?
I dunno. guess tomorrow is gonna be a stressful day, watching the phone and my mailbox (since another school's letter comes in tomorrow)

Congrats to everyone who has heard good news today! I'll be thinking of the rest of you tomorrow - I have a feeling we'll continue to see plenty of acceptances!

Accepted! 😀 She called me at 5:26pm. My interview was on 2/2. My last name starts with D. IDK if that helps anyone, but there you go.
No, I was told in the Auburn's admissions office that MSU started sending out acceptances to IS people a few days ago
I think IS was completed a while ago, like weeks ago.

I interviewed on Monday, January 25. They told us that they would pretty much know who would get contract seats by that Wednesday.
Alternate. A little bit of a sting since I thought I did so well, but since I'm turning them down anyway I guess it's okay.
It was an e-mail by the way at 10:08 A.M.

sooo I'm thinking that all acceptance calls were made yesterday. good assumption?
and i'm sorry luplodw, I know how you feel... but like they said the waitlist moves quickly. plus you'll probably get into auburn or tennessee (you did apply there right?) anyway!

I know it's not horrible news, but stilll... I cried for a good twenty minutes in the kennel with the baby kittens cuddled up against me. They got soaked.
I just want some good news already...I want to know where I'm going to be in six months...I want to be able to start looking at houses, since i'm probably going to purchase...I want to know that I can start packing up my apartment and decide what will take the trip...I want to know if I can get a second dog, since it depends on buying a house...I don't want to be one of those people who hears nothing until the day before classes start. I don't think I could handle that...
And I was really hoping that I would get an acceptance so I could decline my PEI interview, since I really don't have the money to go up there. Apparently thats not going to happen either.
I'm having a really crappy week. 👎 I used to think I could handle stress well lol

I know what you mean. I was holding in the tears just fine until I had to call my parents and tell them hah. Oh well...being waitlisted is pretty much like getting accepted since they go so far down the list. Last year it was around 75 people and 60 or so got offered spots
I'm sorry cowgirla!! If it makes you feel better I'm removing myself from Miss St. (so that's one less waitlister) and I'm 99% sure I'm declining my acceptance to K State, which I know will help you too. I have a good feeling you'll be getting in! Both of you!!

I totally understand... I read the e-mail right before I had to go on shift (I work at a Crisis Center and answer phone lines, i.e. the Suicide Hotline) and I had to be happy and not let it show, and it was killing... I cried as soon as I got home 🙁
I join the waitlisted. I really thought I nailed the interview... Anyways I got the email right before an Animal Phys test, a class that I'm really only takeing for Western, Mississippi, and Iowa needless to say I went in half heartedly and the results will not be pretty.
yeah I told people it was my best interview yet!
one of the interviewers even said "well if you happen to not get into any schools, though I would be very surprised if you didn't!, blah blah blah"
maybe they secretly heard me complaining about the dress code 🙄

I think because they are so nice to everyone, all who interview think they dominated. When in reality most where just average like myself
whatever their loss
PS. I also thought I sucked it up at Kansas and got accepted. This process is a crazy ride I'm thankful I never have to do it again!

I know a lot of those waitlisted think they had "in" during the interview, and feel a little "cheated" to say the least...
but it's important to note that miss. does it differently than other schools that send out acceptances. Unlike Kansas who sends out double the acceptances than they expect to accept, miss. only sends out the 30 acceptances for those spots (according to my mentor).
So if you could imagine 30 ppl out of 220 got the intial acceptance (and how many peopel total were told "we can't wait to see you back here"), getting on that waitlist is pretty darn good, and not to beat a dead horse but if you're waitlisted you've got an awsome shot.

I too have been moping around for the last couple days over my alternate status, but reading what info you guys have about the waitlist is encouraging. I am so afraid to get my hopes up any more at this point, but deep down I'm really hoping for the day we can celebrate getting off that list together!

I too got an alternate email after I thought that I had a great interview. Even the interviewers said that they would see me in the fall. But I am looking up since they usually call so many alternates. Anyways I'm still waiting to hear from 2 other schools about interviews.

Thats news to me, you sure about that? What happens if too many people accept?

I've heard of a few instances where schools have had to call accepted applicants to see if they'd accept deferring acceptance for a year due to having too many people accept.
Also, K-State told us about it and they basically said that they've been doing this for years and they know how many they can accept and get away with it. Most schools that require OOS tuition the full 4 years that aren't a "top" school (not that K-State isn't great, but you know what I mean) can expect a pretty decent number of "no thank you"s
I have been hearing that Mississippi State does problem based learning. Does anyone know if this is true? I was accepted and they never said anything about their curriculum being problem based.
I'm pretty sure it used to be, but they changed it...so I don't think they do that anymore
We moved away from PBL (thank god, just not for me) several years ago.
A few classes, like pathology, still have PBL aspects to it, but +90% of it is traditional didactic.

I may be blind but I can't seem to find the tuition for OOS listed anywhere? Does anyone know what it is?

I think in their packet it was 32Kish

Thank you everyone for answering my PBL question. Thank heavens they have moved away from PBL! Does anyone know the equine caseload for MS State? What about large animal caseload? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
I would imagine that, based on their impressive large animal facilities, they see a good number of large anima/equine patients.
If anyone cares, I sent Missy an email today removing myself from the OOS alternate list. Good luck to everyone else on it!
luplodw - I'm dying to hear back from you about Tennessee!
