Does anyone know when missouri is sending out their decisions for admission?

They were waiting for fall grades. Missouri said they were going mail them the first week of Feb but one girl interviewing said her school wouldn't mail them until Feb 5th. The Missouri people then said that they would have to wait until all fall grades were in and then they would snail mail their decisions.

I'm anxiously waiting too. It sucks going out to the mailbox everyday only to find bills.

I just e-mailed admissions and Kathy said that letter were sent out on wednesday of this week... so any day now!!! ahhh its my last hope

Good luck yall! If you need any advice from a fellow OOSer, just shoot me a PM.

hey i found out today that i'm an alternate.... there is still hope....i really wanna go to mizzou so if anyone is declining acceptance or alternate list status please let them know so i can move up!!!!!!

Hey, I'm an alternate too! I'm waiting for A&M to let me know if I'm accepted before I decide on Mizzou, but I will definitely let you know what I decide. 🙂

I am an alternate too for Missouri and it is my first choice too! It is so hard to just wait and hope! I haven't seen too many people on here who have accepted a spot at Missouri. Have you guys? What state are you guys from?

I think a lot of people are waiting to see what other schools they made it into. Missouri sent their acceptances out earlier than a lot of the other schools. The wait is killing me though. I'm from Texas, so I'm waiting for my A&M letter (which, of course, won't be sent out until the 17th), but I am definitely pumped about Missouri.
Which state are you from?

I was accepted to Missouri, CSU (IS) and Wisconsin. I don't know which one I am going to pick yet. I am going to go to Wisconsin's open house on the 28th then I am going to make my decision. Missouri really impressed me when I interviewed but it is so hard to pass up IS tuition.

They did say that the waitlist moves quite a bit though. I think it was ~50 people were offered admission OOS to fill those ~15 spots. I also believe they said they had a few more OOS spots this year than last. So I have high hopes all you waiting will get in.

Hey :hello:...I was wondering if any of you guys have heard when Mizzou is going to send the IS acceptance letters...I know they are going to be done with interviews early this year :scared:

Congrats to all of you that have been accepted !

My interview last year was mid February and I got my acceptance letter mid to late-ish March.

FractiousCat, did you know that Mizzou has the thing where if you get residency, you can be an in-stater for tuition after just a year? That'd be a big plus to me if I was an OOSer. 👍

Electrophile, Yeah I know about gaining residency after a year. Its one of the main reasons I am considering Mizzou along with CSU. You have said yourself that you wished you went to CSU though. Everyone at Mizzou was so nice and enthusiastic about the program. The facilities and the curiculum also looks really good. I especially like the two years of practical experience. I really don't know how I am going to pick a school. They are all so good.

my interview is today at 4 and i believe I am the last one. So i guess they will send IS letters out in a couple weeks. good luck to everyone!

Thanx for all your responses... i'm still crossing my fingers for an acceptance from the alternate list , i don't care if i get it in april, may, june or july lol

I know this is late but good luck with the interview stephi08..I hope it went well for you!!! You will have to tell us how it went. There are not many people on SDN that talk about Mizzou!! Good Luck

thanks, W2Bvet! The interview went great...they really seemed nice. Anyways, they told me they will have letters out March 15-17, maybe sooner. Today was the last day for interviews, so now we all just have to sit back and wait! good luck to everyone!

I lived in Colorado (Aurora) for a little less than a year when I was in 8th grade and LOVED it. Loved every minute! Every time I go back to visit for vacations to go snowboarding, hiking, etc, I just feel really right being out there. I'm a big mountains person. Give me the mountains over the beach any day! That was one reason.

They also have a more holistic focus, which I am definitely interested in. Though on the other hand, because there are less folks interested in holistic/integrative medicine here at Mizzou, I can spread the word a bit more than no one ever hearing much about it. Sometimes it helps to branch out beyond just being around like minded people all the time. 😀 But once I get to clinical free blocks, I can certainly pursue preceptorships with vets with a more holistic focus. Heck, I may go out to Colorado to do some of it. 😎

The third thing is that since I did undergrad and grad school here, you can sometimes be accused of getting "academically inbred." Like they want you to go to different places for different experiences, that sort of thing. I don't mind so much because I knew a handful of the vet school faculty from working or collaborating with them during grad school, so it probably didn't hurt trying to get in. But yeah, if I do an internship (probably won't) or a residency (probably will), it definitely can't be at Missouri.

So yeah, I'm enjoying vet school here much more this semester than last semester and all and I would have preferred to go to CSU, but finances and the husband's wishes to stay put were difficult to get around. *shrug* No biggie! Go where you feel comfortable and that you can realistically afford. 👍

Has any of you Missouri in-staters heard anything from Mizzou yet.....I can't stand the wait....I just want to know something!!!! AHHH!!!

Hopefully I didn't cause you to freak out by seeing this...just wanted to wish you good luck W2B!

i just found out I'm in!!! I am so excited!!!! Can't believe it!!!! 😀

Wow!! Congrats to you!!! At least you heard something...how exciting!!! I hope to see you there!!!

thanks, guys! hope to see you there too, w2bvet....good luck to all those still waiting!

I've been a lurker here for awhile. I've been accepted to Missouri and I can't wait to go there next year!! Goodluck to everyone who is waiting! Who's actually going to Mizzou? I know I am, and I'm really anxious to meet other students! Let me know if you'll be in the Mizzou class of 2012!

Etherealsheep...I will be attending MIZZOU in the class 2012! My name is Steph as you can see. I am so excited! Feel free to ask me any questions...or send me a private message. I have no idea where I will live or anything as I am not from the Columbia area but I have heard there are a lot of affordable, nice places. Anyways, I'll be seeing you in August!

Awesome! I sent you a PM. 😀

razordoc2010, electrophile or any other current MIZZOU students....can you recommend any apartments or places to live in Columbia that are nice, affordable and not to loud?

thanks...so excited about MIZZOU!!!

pets or no pets? I know I had some problems getting places because I wasn't 22 yet, even though I was a professional student!

I am considering getting a cat but i don't know I guess it will just depend on the apartment I end up living in.
I am 22 as of today!!! I just want a nice place that is not too far from school

Good news is that there is a TON of places now. Columbia has built WAAAAY to many rentals in the last 2-3 years and you can find an okay place by yourself for ~$400-500 a month or with a roommate or two for ~$200-300 per person.

Dexter Management was one. I think you could have up to 2 dogs (most breeds okay) and they came with small fenced yards. They mostly left us alone too, as I hate snoopy, in your business landlords. 😡 Me and my husband had a REALLY bad experience with John and Lisa Seabaugh. Was a total mistake not to get every little detail in writing. He was bipolar and would scream at us and hang up on us over the phone. Totally unprofessional. They screwed us big time, so...if you call up a place and it's them, say no!

Basically, I found about 25% of the places I called were willing to consider renting to me with dogs since I said I'm a trainer (I'm a behaviorist, but eh...), a vet student, and all my dogs have their AKC CGCs. Really, if at all possible, the best thing to do IMHO is buy a house or condo, especially if you're married and whatnot. Sounds scary, but it's better than throwing rent away for 4 years.

In general, the south west part of town is going to be the most expensive. Do NOT get a place at any of the college oriented newer apartments (Campus View, Grindstone Canyon, etc). Loud, lots of parties, disrespectful undergrads. If you want to live reasonably close so that you can bike when it's nice but it's not too loud, look around at East Campus area north of Broadway (south of Broadway is a ton of undergrads and party central).

do you know anything about kelly's ridge? Their website says they specialize in renting to prof. and grad students.

Kelly's Ridge is nice and does only rent to professional students (no dogs though, unsure about cats). If you don't need pets, there are several nice and fairly new places (as electro said, they did overbuild big time). I really found it to be much harder than electro said to find a place to allow dogs, but there are definitely places you can. And I live in Grindstone Canyon, and although super over-priced, I have found it is nothing like she described. It's really been a fine place for me (since I knew absolutely no one coming in), but with that being said, I am hoping to not live here next year. I do know that a bunch of vet students live in Keeneland Downs (they do allows pets) or in the area around there (there are several nice duplexes/homes in that area). If buying a house is an option, I'd look into that. And if you're looking for a roommate (or sometimes to take over someone else's lease), check this out...

There are not a ton of listings, but it might help you get started. Let us know if you need more help!

Thanks for your help! I'm definitely going to check it out when I get up there!

Kelly's Ridge is nice but I think it is about 20 minutes from school with traffic in the morning - at least that's what my friends that live there say. Some other people live in Katy Place which allows cats but not dogs. There's so many places to choose from it's really hard to pick. I checked out Brookside duplexes the other weekend and they were pretty ghetto. Just keep traffic in mind if you are planning on living in the northwestern area of town.

good point on the traffic. Stadium to I-63 and Old 63 are usually pretty busy as well as Clark Lane over near Bass Pro and the Providence-Stadium intersection is probably hellish too.

Thanks for all the info! I think I am coming up this weekend to check some places out...feel totally clueless right now but hopefully will feel better after I see some places. I plan on looking at kelly's ridge, katy place, broadway village, keeneland downs and grindstone canyon...any other specifics you guys can recommend?

Also, what is VET? or the orientation week like? Is it always at the lake of the ozarks?

I have also been a luker here for awhile. I have been accepted to Missouri and I am so excited! All of this housing information is great but what about finding a roommate? I would like to live by myself but since it is so much cheaper to have a roommate I think that is what I will do. Will the school send something out to help us find roommates or is their somewhere else I can look? Thanks!

hey doglver888! First of all, Congrats!!! About finding a roommate, they probably will not send anything out, but there is a public board where people sometimes post if they're looking for a roommate. You can access it by clicking on the link I posted on the 17th in this thread. Otherwise, it's very word-of-mouth, but I could keep yall updated on anything that came our way through email if you'd like.

About VET...do NOT miss this thing! I was really dreading it last year and thought it would be very kumbaya and cheesy, but it was awesome! It's an amazing opportunity to meet your classmates in a non-threatening environment and form some bonds before school starts. It is always held at Windermere at the Lake of the Ozarks which is a baptist summer camp, but don't let that phase you! About what you'll do...you have to fill out this personality profile, they'll put you in groups, and have you do tons of stuff together. There is a high-ropes course and a low-ropes course, and then one day you can go swimming and canoe racing or whatever you'd like. We even had teachers that were out there with us which was nice to meet them in that environment as well.

Hey! Glad you'll be coming to Mizzou! PM me if you want my email/ facebook info! I'm always happy to meet a future classmate ^_^ Yeah...I want to live by myself too, but I'm also re-evaluating that b/c of money.

I think the acceptance form and prepayment I mailed got lost in the mail.🙁 How stressful! So i'm going to have to remail it. Has anyone else sent theirs off and noticed the check hasn't been cashed? Just curious. I've emailed them just to make sure it's not there. It's been about 3 weeks.

Do they mail out information to those that accept? like important dates and stuff? When is VET normally held?

Hope you guys all are having beautiful weather and enjoying it!

They didn't respond to me when they received my check, so I'd be sure to check with Kathy Seay. They don't send out a whole lot of info until the summer either. VET is usually help from about Saturday - Wednesday the week before school starts. Then academic orientation is reserved for Thursday and Friday, although Thursday is the only day you're required to show up if it is like it was for us. Friday is reserved for you to take care of getting parking permits, books, etc.

Hey! I was a lurker for awhile and then decided to join. Everyone is so helpful on here! Anyways, feel free to send me a private message if you want to. See you in august!

Stephi08 (or anybody else), shoot me a PM if you want a tour of the town this weekend or anything. I am not from Columbia, but this is my 8th year here, so it feels like I am. 😀 Especially if you're moving here the summer before, I imagine it'd be helpful to kind of know where the mall, grocery stores, pet stores, movie theaters, hiking trails, that sorta stuff is beforehand! I'd be bored stiff I didn't know anybody and didn't know where to go! It's not really like your freshman year of college where they kind of hold your hand for that kinda stuff. 🙄

For the VET thing, yeah, definitely try to make it if you can. I could only make it for one day (I had to have a last minute meeting with my faculty adviser from grad school the week before I left), so I drove down there and back in a day but it was fun!

Congrats to everyone who got in...... I'm still hoping that i get in off the waitlist!!!!

Goodluck! I hope you do too! It seems like the chance are good!

Mizzou just cashed my prepayment. I guess I won't worry about it being lost in the mail now! Haha...so many things got lost during my undergrad application process I'm paranoid! Still, they should tell you about important stuff like that. ^_^

BTW. This is Katie from the University of Arkansas. Haha...anymore classmates out there?

Thanks Stephi08! I sent you a PM.

Good luck to you DogLover824!

Oh and this is Anna from the University of Arkansas!
