I have just noticed that I made a mistake in the "Work and Activities" section of my AMCAS app. I`m reapplicant and since AMCAS used "hours/week" field before, I put 40 in "total hours". However, in description of activity I wrote that I work there full-time.

Can someone tell me if this is a red flag?

Well, there is probably nothing you can do about it now. However, I would probably call AMCAS tomorrow and ask if there is something you can do.

If there's nothing to be done on the primary, I would just contact the schools after you get their secondary. Ask them how they would prefer for you to rectify it. You might be able to write something on the app or include an "update letter" clarifying your hours.

For future people, this is why copy/paste is a bad idea. You have to read everything and not assume it is the same.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, the description of your activity is infinitely more important than the number of hours and even the title of the activity. That is what the adcoms will focus on, not the # of hours.

It's not a big deal, they'll know what you meant. I misspelled a word in my PS and still got interviews at 5/15 schools.

For others with this and similar issues, I had a rather large mistake (overwritten summary of experience with unrelated pubs) and notified all of my schools of the issue. Result? Five acceptances and a WL spot. Mistakes happen, especially when using 3 different systems to apply to med school. Most schools will understand and appreciate the humility of notifying them of your mistake. That said, if it's as minor as the OP's, that can be explained during the interview, which is when most, if any, will notice such a small inconsistency.

GL to all those applying!

I accidentally put the wrong year for one of my activities making it sound like I worked there for an extra year. 3 interviews 1 acceptance, the school I got an acceptance too even called me out on it and i was just like "oopsies" and it wasn't a big deal.

Yup, point exemplified yet again regarding calling out the small inconsistencies. 👍 And congrats, btw. 🙂

What if it had been the dosage of medication you were giving to your patient
