Mistake on AMCAS (verified)

So my AMCAS was just verified, however, I realized that I missed a mistake. During my freshman year I took gen chem 2 but got a C- so I had to retake the course again during a summer semester. However, I realized that I accidentally put the wrong course name but the correct course code.

So the course was CHE111: General Chemistry 2, which is how I put it on my freshman year courses. However, for my repeat course I put (CHE111:General Chemistry 1).


Both of these courses are listed as repeat on the application and is my only repeat course so I think that the same course code and the repeat designation on them makes it clear that general chemistry 2 was repeated. My gen chem 1 grade was an A- so I also think it would be clear I would not retake that course but I may be wrong

Should I email each school individually to notify them of this error?

More appropriate to message AMCAS and tell them only one course was repeated and be very specific about the course numbers and your error in the course title.
But first read all the details on page 71 and 72 of the AMCAS Guide under the heading "Academic Change Request" to see if your issue is one they will change.

Unfortunately I gave them a call and they said that they can't change the course title.

I really don't think schools will notice this, and also you don't have a low grade from the class you "didn't repeat" on there so it won't affect your GPA

Just reading this as an admissions committee member who reviews apps-

I would never notice this. I just skim peoples' coursework to see what general things they took, and I certainly don't obsess over the letter grade. I have your GPA displayed already. Don't email the school, that just draws negative attention to yourself needlessly.

If I did notice it, I'd assume you put in a typo and again, not care.

N = 1, but I think most adcom members are WAY too busy to worry about stuff like this. The people reading your app are mostly MDs, PhDs, or students like myself. The stuff that makes me go "Huh?" are if you tell me you volunteered 80 hours a week or if grew up in NY City but tell me you want to be a rural family doctor. Etc.

Also misspelling the school name is pretty bad (I did that on my app lol).

Thank you so much! That makes sense, plus I imagine that the schools use our official transcripts to verify our pre-requisites anyways
