I submitted AMCAS about a week and a half ago. It has not been verified yet but I realized that I made a mistake. I put 1 dependent instead of 0. I didnt realize until it was too late that I shouldnt count myself as a dependent. I had been filling out other financial aid stuff that I had to include myself so I filled it in without even thinking about it. I called AAMC and they said that there was no way for me to change it. What should I do? Also, is this a big deal or am I just being a stereotypical pre-med?

if it really bothers you, i think you could withdraw your application and resubmit

but really, i don't think it should affect you too much. if asked in an interview or something about if you have a kid, just say it was a mistake. although i doubt it would be noticed. my 2c.

You CAN NOT withdraw and resubmit your AMCAS. You will be sitting out year if you withdraw your application this cycle.

However, I do think you can go back into your AMCAS and EDIT this mistake if its under the first 3 section of AMCAS that ask about biographicial infomation. I remeber going back into AMCAS to change my telephone number and address after I moved to make sure my medschool knew how to contact me.

The only things you cant change on AMCAS are grades, your PS, and work/activites.
