I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread in which everyone can add their own personal or adapted mnemonics. :laugh:

ACTIN rhymes with THIN.

M Line is in the Middle

I Band contains only THIN filaments. The letter I looks THIN.

H Zone contains only THICK filaments. The letter H looks fat, THICK.

A Band contains both: THICK and THIN, so it contains All

Wow, thats how I always remembered it, and I thought of that independantly 😛

Also,
Kings play chess on fat girls stomachs, (kingdom, phylum)

Cats like good smelly butts (skin layers, corneum, lucidem, granulosum, stratum, basale).

leo the lion says grrr, etc....

DAVE:
dorsal: afferent
ventral: efferent

refering to the spinal cord

LAMB = the different names for the left side of the heart.

Left atrioventricular, mitral-valve, or bi-valve....that's for the left ventricle of the heart if you get the tri-bi valve thing confused.

SA👍 is that a Pacemaker?

For Sinoatrial node which initiates heartbeat, as opposed to AV (atrioventricular) node which conducts impulses from atria to ventricles and is self explanatory

The SA (sinoatrial node) is definitely the pacemaker. It allows for both the atria to contract simultaneously, and sends out a delayed impulse to the AV, which will later allow for the contraction of the ventricles after going through a pathway (namely, SA -> AV -> bundle of His -> Purkinje fibers -> contraction of ventricles)

Wow... that's quite the imagination there. Hats off to you.

The other great thing about this mnemonic is that they've split them up, putting all the tropic hormones together. FLAT = all the tropic ones from the ant. pituitary.

Another note... I'm not sure if you have it in your book, but I have it as FLAT PEG, where the E stands for endorphins. Eh, take it for what it's worth.

To remember the three hormones of the adrenal cortex: salty, sweet, sex

Salty = mineralcorticoids, Aldosterone causes reabsorption of Na+
Sweet = glucocorticoids, cortisol raises blood glucose levels
Sex = sex hormones, androgen secretion leads to male sex charactersitics, overproduction in women has masculinizing effects

Actually forget about mnemonics. It is just tricking your memory into remembering something but not actually developing your memorizing ability. HERE is a special course that will train your memory to the point when you won’t need special tricks and memorizing large volume of medical data will become easy and natural. You brain, much like your physical muscles needs exercise in order to stay fit. This course gives you plenty of exercises along with a solid theoretical system that when combined will produce the skill you are looking for. Check it out
