This thread was not a TOS violation.

1) He mentioned that he had a derm appointment scheduled, so it wasn't like he was looking for medical advice.
2) So far as I know, asking whether anyone has heard of a vaccine leading to red spots, is hardly soliciting medical advice.
3) The main point of the post was asking what would happen to his school status if he discontinued the shots.

Quit being overzealous nmj😡

In all fairness, nobody touched the thread for like nine hours.

njbmd was being anal retentive. OP wasn't even asking medical advice to see a doctor or anything. I've seen lots of threads that were like, "Am I allergic to formaldehyde, I've got a bad headache, is anyone depressed and what should I do?" In all honesty, I don't see why asking for advice is a violation, if anything, the responses are very supportive and gives motivation to seek the right kind of treatment even though we are just students at the time.

The fact that they say that they have an appt scheduled is irrelevant to the fact that they're also asking for medical advice/opinion.

I'm scheduled to get my second shot in a few days and need some input if anyone feels these was caused be the vaccine.

There are legal implications with threads like this, so that's an important reason they get closed. Also, our site policy is clearly stated at the bottom of the forums homepage.

Not for medical advice. For medical questions, please see your family doctor.

Hope that clears things up a bit.

Can you list the OP exact sentence and alongside it the TOS sentence that it violates.

Everyone needs to STFU.. I don't know how anyone even notices threads that are shut down.. I've never seen one..

However, whining about censorship and other crap on a freakin forum is pathetic.. It's a post and a stupid forum..

Move along.. Nothing to see here..

No one asked for you opinion dickmunch.

how come everythign always reverts back to the pelvic area. Let's use a more humorous part of the anatomy. How about "flappyt!ts" or "baloneyt!ts", or The Monosomy Marvel.

The Student Doctor Network reserves the right to block or remove communications or materials that it determines, in its sole discretion, to be (a) abusive, libelous, defamatory or obscene, (b) fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, (c) in violation of a copyright or trademark, other intellectual property right of another or (d) offensive or otherwise unacceptable to The Student Doctor Network.

In regards to medical advice/opinions, I only see where a disclaimer was placed saying that it should not be construed as factual.

It's at the bottom of every page:

"Not for medical advice. For medical questions, please see your family doctor."

I think this is actually a valid point. Nowhere in the actual TOS agreement or usage policy does it specifically ban medical questions/advice, at least that I saw. The TOS is what one agrees to abide by upon joining, not the aforementioned disclaimer at the bottom of the forum listings page (which comes across as more directed at anyone readinga post vs a binding rule for posting a discussion topic).

The poster didn't get punished (banned), from what I can tell. The thread wasn't even removed. Just locked, after being left open for about 9 hours.

Read the last part of it. That covers everything:
or otherwise unacceptable to The Student Doctor Network.
Here's a wild guess: everyone who is arguing the censorship point is younger than 30. It sounds like a high-school newspaper staff meeting.

Here's a tip for the "freedom of speech violation" crowd:

If you feel your inalienable right to make an @$$ out of yourself has been infringed, GO START YOUR OWN FORUMS 🙂 🙂 🙂

These are not a public resource funded by your tax dollars. You (and I) have no inalienable rights here whatsoever. Have a nice day.

Having been on many different forums in the last 5 years, I can respect the wish of members to not have threads closed, at the very least for educational purposes and open discussion (right to free speech and press issues). But at the same time, anyone with a good lawyer could make a case of malpractice off a webforum filled with doctors. Look at the world today, is it really that hard to imagine? Better to be safe than sorry with regards to threads like this - normally I hate it when they close threads/delete posts like a Big Brother for SDN. Perhaps if there are any JDs on the forum, they could chime in and state whether this is actually possible or not to take legal action off a webforum.

If OP of the other thread really wanted to I guess he could PM individuals and ask their opinions.
