Hey guys, I was just doing MCAT Elite Practice Test 2, and came across this issue.

I know that "electron geometry" refers to terms that include lone pairs,

"molecular geometry" refers to terms that do not include lone pairs and only atoms.

So the way I've always learned it, it was "molecular geometry" vs "electron geometry"

But the explanation for this test says that it is actually "molecular geometry" vs "shape"

in which "molecular geometry" includes lone pairs and "shape" is just the atoms without lone pairs...

The question actually asks what is the "molecular geometry" for this molecule.

I picked the answer that takes only the atoms into account, and the answer is actually the name that includes electrons....

So now I'm very confused... I've done some google searching but it seems like everyone is saying different thigns and It seems like the term "shape" is just used so indiscriminately all the time...

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help!
