I know this isn't exactly feasible on a forum, and I'm 0% into politics overall (not a political man).

But after seeing the news on TV about the events that happened around Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the people there with her, I feel my thoughts and heart really going out to them and their families during such a rough period.

I just hope everyone will take a step back and breathe for a moment and just remember to appreciate having your loved ones with you. It's easy for us to get all wrapped up in Pre-med land and forget about those around us whom we care for and who care for us.

Send a prayer to their families, or whatever is appropriate. And remember that life is short - learn to love every moment to the best of your ability 😍.

That is all

Wanksta out.

That's really thoughtful to put this up, and I observed it. I am so happy that she seems to be recovering.

ur in for a treat once u become a doc and start treating patients.

I do offer my sympathies, but I do hate what the potential consequences on gun laws might hold for what happened.

Wouldn't laws promoting restrictions on firearms help reduce access to weapons?

I believe what he means is that he is afraid the public will take exactly this view towards firearms in general.

So as to not derail, observed.

I mean it would hurt the ability to own guns. I own a gun and want more but this could hurt that chance....

This is why I hate politics. I offer my sympathies and hate that this happened, but I also hate that this will be used as an "anti-gun" methodology 😡

Certainly, as a hunter myself I see where you're coming from. However I do hope this will not turn into a political debate in this thread please.

I'm so angry right now. I'm literally tearing up.

Apparently the 9 year old girl was born on 9/11

I don't mean to. And I do apologize for my initial reaction

poor 9 year old girl, my heart goes out to the familiy of the girl and the congresswomen.

i wish everyone single person had a psychiatrist, these types of things could be avoided with anti-psychotics + counseling

Yea that's ridiculous, her life was cut short...Poor little girl

It's surprising how most of the people that accompanied her died, but she was the one "targeted" and she is still alive.

Also observed. It's really easy to lose track of the important things in life. Usually, you can't until it's too late, but this should remind us all. My thoughts are with all of their families. I do hope the Congresswoman pulls through, the doctors seem optimistic.

It is tragic.
On a related note, being skilled (and lucky) enough to save someone who got shot in the head would be pretty awesome.

The President and First Lady are going to hold a moment of silence in a few minutes. You can watch it here.

I personally won't post for awhile, either, but I don't expect anyone else to follow suit, especially on such short notice.

No no not the death of the child bothered me....well it did.....but the thing that was "too much" for me was the fact that the guy purposefully shot her.

I really do not think that he will be able to be found legally insane. I think the defense will have a pretty difficult time proving that:

A. He could not distinguish between right and wrong
B. He could not control his actions at the time he committed the murders

But then again, crazier things have happened within our legal system...

And 👍 to this thread!

Observed. What happened on Saturday morning in Tucson is a tragedy for all nvollved, even the shooter's family who have to live with what he did for the rest of their lives, aswell as the victims and their families. I cannot even begin to comprehend what they must be feeling.
