Dear friends,

I am an IM resident - really interested in ID - looking more into transplant ID -- People I talk to are pessimistic about the financial assistance in ID - Based on my personality, I am pretty sure I want academics for now -- However, I am really worried that if I want to do private practice to make money, I might not be able to do it in ID compared to other sub-specialties --- Can anyone could give me more input on the salary of an academic or private practice ID physicians? --- Doing a sub-specialisation in Transplant ID will help in terms of financial assistance?

Not sure about PP vs academic ID in general, but doing a sub-sub-specialization in transplant ID will virtually assure that you continue to work in academics. It will not make you any more money.

Thanks for your input!! I wanted to know more about the future of transplant ID in academics....Any suggestion regarding which website or society webpage to look for?
