My geology major requires a summer class that is called field geology and it's basically going out somewhere for a month like a real science expedition. Can this be something to put on my med school applications even though it's not med school related ? It is a required class so it isn't really a EC but where can I put this on my application ? Also this is going to be a pain because I plan on taking the MCAT next summer to and there are 2 trips I can pick one is the entire month of May and the other is June. Any advice on what I could do there?

If you are taking this course as credit, the only applicable place to list it is under Coursework, no matter how intensive it is.

don't think so. i did research for credit and put it under the EC section in addition to entering it as coursework.

I think it sounds like something cool/unique you should definitely work it into your application somewhere... not sure if ECs would be the best section though as it isn't optional (even doing research for credit is at least optional)

You can add it to your personal statement if you have room.

For your MCAT I would suggest April pr May. Then go on your trip in June. You won't have to stress about the MCAT during your trip (trust me, studying while traveling doesn't happen) and you are likely to perform better if the subjects are fresh on your mind from being in school.

Get all your paperwork and PS taken care of before then so when you come back you can apply asap.

I also did this, and think this is what OP should do as well.

I agree with all the people who say to put it as EC. I am currently doing a paid internship for credit (business major) and I put it under Work Experience 👍
