For someone starting a new practice would signing up with HMO plans initially provide a stable source of income considering they pay a capitation fee, what is the usual capitation amount per month for all the patients assigned to a practice? Is it in the low hundreds or $1200 or $1500 or way more or way less? I know the challenges associated with HMOs with a wacky fee schedule but is the capitation check enough to cover rent at least initially for a startup practice?
