Hi everyone, I am looking for as much advice and honesty as possible 🙂
I am a full-time medical assistant set to take the MCAT on March 7th. I took the MCAT almost two years ago during my junior year of undergrad and scored under a 490. Currently, I have been studying since September (wanted to give myself extra time as a full-time worker and as someone who did so poorly the first time).
I have taken two full lengths and one diagnostic within these past 4 months of studying. My diagnostic was a 492 (higher than my past test score) and then my first FL was a 489 and then a second FL two weeks after scoring my highest score ever of a 494 (CP 122, CARS 125, BBC 121, PS 125). I took that FL 2 on 12/20/25 and felt better knowing I finally broke into the 490s (embarassing i know). I am now almost two months from my testing date and I still am not performing so hot.
I do milesdown every day and I was doing uworld every day but have now transitioned into aamc qbanks. Everytime I was doing uworld, I was usually average or below for bio/biochem/physics/chem. I have only done AAMC qbanks for a week now, and same applies with my usual 30-50% accuracy. While I would usually jump to conclude that it is my content gaps, I realize when reviewing my FLs that once I go over my wrong errors, 8 times out of 10 it is a Logical Error on my end and my inability to gather my knowledge and the science passages/questions given to derive the answer. When I go over my FLs I feel like I am always saying "how did i not see this, it was all spelt out for me?"
Also, when I go over my FLs and qbanks, I have been making corresponding anki cards on the topics missed or even the question itself in an attempt to keep practicing how I would recognize the steps needed to solve a future problem like the one I had previously done.
While I definitely think I am weak in some of the content, I can feel a night and day difference to my studying and knowledge from my first attempt over a year ago, to now (which I think is a good sign).
I wanted to post in here to see if there's any changes I should make while I still have time. My usual study sessions are around 4 hours of qbanks and reviewing after work and I planned on taking full lengths every weekend from here on out to practice my stamina.
In a perfect world I could get a 510 come March, but I am starting to spiral and lose hope. Do you think I still have time? I reallyyyyyy do not want to push my date.
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your reply!
