Hello everyone, I have a unique question and I'm hoping someone out there can help me out. Currently I am in between residencies, meaning that I am slated to begin a new residency in July 2012 after having completed a PGY-1 residency in IM. I've been teaching during this "time off", but I rather continue seeing patients so that I can remain clinically fine tuned. Can a person who is not technically in a residency (again, wont start until 2012) and have completed only 1 year of medicine moonlight if they were able to obtain proper licensure (I'm aware the license qualifications vary state to state)? Any info is truly appreciated.

If you can get a license and find someone willing to offer you a position (and someone willing to insure you for malpractice), there would be nothing (legally) stopping you from moonlighting. Those may be rather high hurdles to get over though so don't think that just getting your license means you're off to the races.
