So I'm a lot more excited about my future in dentistry and am looking to get the Kaplan study guide. After leaving my local bookstore yesterday and reviewing the PAT, I wasn't too satisfied with the explanations. Without underestimating the difficult of the PAT, I can see that this is something I could be good at given my various pastime (but I need the basics to play the game of the PAT). So I left with a few questions:

1) How soon will the Kaplan DAT 8th edition come out?

2) I can pre-order the 8th edition, but don't want to wait too long. Should I just get the 7th edition?

3) What are the most economical PAT study guides out there?

4) How did you study for the PAT? (please note, I read there is a science to it, while others claim to just imagine the figures rotate etc...)

5) For those who took the DAT: which in your view is the most challenging science/math subtest on the DAT?

While level of difficulty will vary for each individual, chances are we may have the same weaknesses.

I am very new to the DAT and I dream to get a high score like so many successful applicants here.

1) I don't have much experience with Kaplan but they do not change much between editions. No point waiting for the new edition to come out. Use Kaplan (assuming you are talking about the Blue Book) as an introduction to the DAT. There are better resources out there to achieve higher scores.

2) Yes

3) Crack DAT PAT....$100 for 10 tests --> best resource out there

4) Take a test and figure out what works for you. Search the forums here for some techniques others have used and see if when you implement them they work. If they don't, tweak your routine and go from there. You have 10 tests to nail down your style.

5) BIO - There is just so much material and the test is very random. Sometimes you just need to go into the test knowing you will not understand a couple of questions. That makes it easier to handle when you get to those questions...

I see you are pre-med on your profile...why are you interested in the DAT?

Yes I'm referring to the blue book study guide.

I have been looking at both medicine & dentistry in recent months. But I researched medicine first and hence, the pre-medical profile. However, I am a lot more excited about dentistry at this point.
