should be some alternate list movement. i found out today that msm won't be giving out fin aid packages until june (two weeks after the may 15 deadline to chose a school - skeeeetchy), so i'm going to be withdrawing my acceptance this week. hope it helps a deserving someone out there on the alt list out.

best of luck to everyone else along the way! :luck:

oh my god i had no idea! that's super stressfull!!!! I might have to withdraw too, as aid packages will be raelyl important to me and i can't just committ to a school without knowing... ahhh i worked so hard to get all that info in too, theirs was the first school i finished my aid application at.

ditto on that aaj. I can't believe it! I called MSM today, and a lady told me that tentative fin. aid awards are usually sent out in July. I don't think she knew what she was talking about. If anything, June as was mentioned above. I'm really looking to cut down cost.

Doesn't MSM start classes in July? So their fin. aid won't go out until July?

I know, it makes no sense to me. That's why I believe the lady I spoke with didn't know what she was saying. I'll call again tomorrow and speak with someone else.

So I spoke with Dr. Roaf today, and he confirmed that he has no clue what dates fin aid has set but that whatever they say is true. So, I withdrew today. Going to send a letter of withdrawal tomorrow. Guess I'm going somewhere else. Hope that help someone out there!

definitely helps me out, thanks for postin that. sorry we couldn't be classmates (hopefully) and good luck with the fin aid from wherever you end up matriculating

Just wondering to see if any of y'all have gotten off the Alternate List? I interviewed on 10/19 and was waitlisted 2 months later. I've already sent a few LOI's and I fear that anymore will just annoy Dr. Roaf.

Do you guys know how the Alternate List works? It says its unranked, but if thats true then how do they decide? I would appreciate any info at all you guys have heard...

I was waitlisted as well, a friend of mine who goes to Morehouse talked to Dr. Roaf recently and he said that they haven't started looking at the waitlist yet; however, by June the class list should be finalized.

does your friend know what kind of movement the waitlist has each year?? I was waitlisted last december and i've heard nothing from them even after sending 3 or 4 LOI's. I really really REALLY want to be a part of the Morehouse family...

Hi all,

Im new to SDN but I got my acceptance a few weeks ago so I just decided to pop on here to try to get acquainted with a few of my future class mates before July. Congrats to all and I look forward to meeting you very soon. Drop a line if you have a moment! 🙂

Just wanted to know who is still holding more than one seat. I'm having such a hard time deciding btwn schools. What are some of the perks you all like about Morehouse. Mine: small cls sz., underserved & primary care focused, diverse.

Hi everyone I'm part of the class of 2012 at Morehouse and I really need a place to live and a roommate for next year! So if there are any GIRLS interested in rooming with me next year, PLEASE send me a pm. I'm so excited to meet all of you!🙂

so for everyone out there who is waiting on Morehouse, they said we should hear something by early next week so i guess keep your fingers crossed!!!

FYI: I called Dr. Roaf this afternoon to get sort of a status update and he replied that the best timeframe he can give is from now until june 30th at the very latest. obviously i'm hoping that i hear favorably sooner but i'm not so sure about where i stand and i've already sent 3 LOInterest. Has anyone heard back after May 15th from Morehouse and in what form??? I'm dying to know....

I have heard nothing. Im out of state so I cant really stop by, but all I can get from calling in is that we will be notified if we are taken off the list. from the limited information I have, they have just started looking at the list, so perhaps they have not notified anyone yet. I have a friend of a friend who was offered a spot off the list may 31, but this was two years ago

My friend just got off the waitlist so don't lose faith

Some spots should open up soon I know a couple of people who are declining their acceptances.

did your friend find out today? did he/she get called, mail email? if you know

I received an acceptance letter today from Morehouse off the waiting list.

The letter was sent by USPS Priority Mail dated May 19th.

Waiting is so stressful. To everyone still waiting, hang in there, and try to stay positive.

well, i just sent in my last and final letter to Morehouse: the end-all, be-all Letter of Intent. I'll let y'all know how it turns out. Apparently the office said that traditionally, all decisions are made within the next 2-3 weeks so I'm just gonna hope and pray for that call from Dr. Roaf...

do you guys think its appropriate for me to call Dr. Roaf to check my status on the list ? I mean its may 29th, and I've been constantly updating them with letters including a LOIntent last week. I'm getting the feeling that i'm not gonna get in despite my best intentions...maybe i should email my interviewer asking for advice? or is that considered a no-no? help me out, i'm freakin

I just found out that I was moved off the alternate list. I think they met on Tuesday. Also, my friend last year told me most people get moved off the list the last day or days of may, so I hope those who are waiting get a good letter in the mail. One waitlist down, one to go, but I'm 99% sure ill be at morehouse😀

Did you call Dr. Roaf and speak to him? When did you do this last? LOI are fine, its good that you sent those, imo.
It sounds like more letters are coming this week and early next week. Maybe waiting til monday is a good idea before talking to somebody.
Are you local? I would go there after monday to really show your interest.

Anything you do at this point short of begging and crying in front of them i'm pretty sure is good and shows how interested you are, even if they don't give you a straightforward answer. Calling to ask shouldn't be a problem, the worst they can do is say sorry we can't give you that info. GOOD LUCK!! I'm totally rooting for you, wish you would have gotten my spot!

thanks for all of your support guys...i think i'll call Dr. Roaf today just to check in and see where i'm at. hopefully he'll have some unbelievably good news to report! anyway, i really appreciate all you guys rooting for me and i can't tell youhow much i wanna report back with an acceptance, keep hope alive!!!

If you are within driving distance and you dont get a letter by Monday, I still think you should go there. I hope it works out and I was in your shoes less than a day ago

Definitel do not give up hope yet. I am currently holding an acceptance at Morehouse and really want to go there, but haven't heard anything as far as financial aid. As much as I don't want to claim that money is what will have me at one school vs. another, having to take out minimal loans at one school vs. the posibility of taking out $50,000+/year at Morehouse really scares me. I feel really bad holding two acceptances when there are people waiting to hear, but really have my hopes up there that Morehouse will pull through with something good. With that being said, if I don't hear anything soon, I will have to withdraw (and really hope I don't have to) because people will need to start looking for apartments soon, and that spot would need to be open soon. This is the situation that I am currently in, and am sure that others may feel the same. Keep the faith though...if no financial aid info is sent out in the next week or so, that is one more spot that will be open for you all.

How are you still holding multiple acceptances? the deadline to be holding only one was May 15th-- you could get your acceptance withdrawn from both schools if you are still holding!!! And if you read above at the top of this page, Morehouse won't be announcing aid decisions until june or july.

I declined all of my other acceptances before May 15th, but was accepted from the waitlist at another school after May 15th. May 15th is the day to decline multiple acceptances and still get your deposit refunded. There are a bunch of people still holding multiple acceptances...people are called from waitlists pretty much until the day school starts.

I talked with the fin. aid office today at Morehouse and they said an email will be sent in the next 2 weeks giving each student a tentative fin. aid award letter and loan applications.

so basically Dr. Roaf told me that movement can happen anytime between now and june 30th and there is nothing more he can say because of confidentiality clauses and whatnot. soooooooo, basically i'm gonna give them another week or so and then call it a cycle cuz i can't imagine any acceptances going out past the first week of june. it's been real folks...

There's still a chance up until the first day of class. don't shoot for the first week of June. Plead your case as fervently as you can. Something great will happen.

i know theres a chance but i just feel that its getting slimmer and slimmer every subsequent day. i interviewed back in october and was waitlisted in december. i've sent 3 letters of interest along with a great ( as in good GPA) transcript from my post-bacc every few months since then compounded with a letter of intent last week. i've filled out the financial aid, i've done everything they've asked for (and more imho), and yet i'm still not gettin any love. i know its because im OOS but yesterday on the phone i asked Dr. Roaf if there was anything else humanly possible that I could do (update letters, LOR, anything) from this point on and he said to just wait so i dont know how else to plead my case more fervently, get what i'm saying?

Hey i think anyone on the list should wait til June 30th b4 freaking out officially. Last year, one of my classmates got in around June 20 (I dont remember the exact date, but it was literally 2 weeks roughly before the start date)

It can definitely happen. I know that there generally are people who get in right before classes start. I talked to someone at another med school who was literally called the day before classes start, so you never know. I really would recommend, though, that you search apartments in the area and see what the availabilities are looking like, and have 3 or 4 that you like that you can look at in person if you are given that call. You never know when it could happen, and it might be 4 days before class starts, so I would say hope for the best and be as prepared as you possibly can so if you get a call late in June, you don't enter the school year with all of that added stress. Definitely...stay positive about the situation.

well optimystik, i'm definitely trying to be optimistic haha but seeing as how its june i'll wait with an unbelievable degree of anxiety...anyway hopefully several other people are waiting to hear back from fin aid before withdrawing so thats what i'm gonna fool myself into believing for the next few weeks...

Get yoour sweaters out, its a cold day in....
I got my letter/packet today. Off the list. Ive been on since mid-december. I think my gpa is tooo low for mcg list movement, so it looks lie Morehouse class of 2012 for me. 😀

anyone else still waiting?? I'm OOS so if you withdraw make sure to post!

annnnd i just sent another letter....I think Dr. Roaf hates me, but i don't wanna look back and say i didn't try or give it my all if i don't get in this year. hope it was the right move...

I just spoke to someone in the summer program from last year, and she said that they class was not final yet. I assume she knows what she's talking about because she attended the program last summer and got to know people. For those that think it is too late, orientation is still 3 weeks away, which means classes are 3.5 weeks from starting. Dont give up.

yeah i definitely am still keeping hope alive but it sure gets tough since it seems theres definitely something in my file not giving me the thumbs up from the adcom since a bunch of people have been moved off the waitlist except for me. Luckily I still believe in hope (and Dr. Roaf)....

I was in your shoes less than 2 weeks ago. If you want to tell me, who interviewed you? I found out some interesting stuff about my file after I got in. What are your stats. SOrry new to the site (if you posted before) or you can tell me privately. Also, you mentioned you are oos. what state?

can someone help, in my acceptance packet or emails, it said a match list was included for curiosity's sake. out of all the pages, i cant find it. maybe it got lost, or it was never sent. did u all get one. if so, if there is a link, can u post. if not, did u see any matches w/ ca residencies? which ones? thn x

you're not alone.

thanks. hey are you going to morehouse? I checked your stats b/c you got off their w/l right b4 I did. I feel like your twin. our gpa is identical, and your mcat score is one point higher. r u on mcg waitlist also? I notice they are pulling the high gpa, lower mcat score students. bad news for me. r u from an oos college?

Yes, I'm on MCG's waitlist as well.

And I'm getting ready for Morehouse unless I receive a last minute phone call. Already bought all the books on the first year booklist.

And yep, it looks like MCG likes high GPA's over high MCATs.

I graduated from Georgia Tech back in 2005. How about yourself?

In all honesty, I'm just very glad to be accepted to any allopathic school in the US. Imagine being in the shoes of many right now... preparing to retake the MCAT, and reapplying for 2009... be very grateful 😉

where are you from?

I was just accepted off the waitlist with a great scholarship but I had to decline it due to certain career goals of mine in research. It was hard because Morehouse is an excellent institution. There is movement and there will be one more spot offered. I wish you guys the best and hope you guys get into Morehouse

when were you accepted??? Also how do you know they only have 1 spot left? did Dr. Roaf tell you that? Man, I hope i get that last spot...

I got offered the spot last wednesday. Dr.Roaf said a spot opened up which could mean that there is only one. It was a hard decision. Morehouse is an awesome school man. 100% step 1 pass rate and one of the best academic support schools in the country. I hope you get it.
