I got offered the spot last wednesday. Dr.Roaf said a spot opened up which could mean that there is only one. It was a hard decision. Morehouse is an awesome school man. 100% step 1 pass rate and one of the best academic support schools in the country. I hope you get it.

Where r u going instead? I think the class filled today. wonder what happened to the last spot.

HI guys

I'm applying this cycle to medical school and i came across morehouse on the internet (while searching), it seemed like a really good school, and ive grown interest in it. However i read somewhere on sdn (actually on someone profile--it was a comment written by someone) that morehouse is a "minority school" and dont take alot ppl that are not considered a minority. I really dont know if i should apply and waste my money because i'm considered white on my application. But i really like the school and i love working with ppl from different cultures and background and race. Im really in need of some advice or some feedback about the school. How many ppl do they accept usually that are not considered minority? Do i have a chance with good stats (if im considered not a minority)? Any advise or feedback will be greatly appreciated, i wish all of u the best of luck and im sure all of u will be great doctors.. GOODLUCK...

Any school will admit you if meet their criteria. It is illegal for them to reject you because of your race and if they do sue them.

Morehouse, like every other medical, does not discriminate by race. They look for individuals that they feel fit into their mission and that will be successful in their program. HBCU's take individuals from all backgrounds, colors, and shapes they just lean towards individuals that want to work in underserved populations. These are usually minorities because they come from these areas and are more likely to return upon completion.

Give it a shot, and make sure that your intention is to work in these areas because they can easily tell when someone is applying because they think it's a "safety school".

Hey. I just applied to Morehouse but I am an out of state student. I did awful on the MCAT in January (23O) but am retaking it on Friday. I have a 3.5 gpa, 3.3 science and wonder what my chances are getting in here, especially not being from Georgia. I have pretty good EC's and great LOR. My fiance is going to chiropractic school in Georgia and we would like to be in the same state, otherwise I wouldn't be inquiring. 🙁 Any help you have would be great! Thank you! =)
