An earlier poster was beating on RP for saying lots of med students are very attractive or stunning. I'd probably agree that they're not, but it's an issue of relative words. So, how do you rank the attractiveness of a person of the opposite sex (or same sex, I guess if that's what you prefer)?
On the old 1-10 scale for me:
10 ~ I've seen about 3 in my life. This is a girl who walks by on the street and literally takes your breath away. No matter how cool you think you are, you have to turn and stare. This must be a person seen in real life. Someone on a TV or Movie screen or in a photo can not be a 10, by definition. This is a woman who is physically perfect. 10's are exceptionally rare.
9 ~ Still rare, but they exist. A truly beautiful person, conforming to your tastes in every way. If you're a bit shy it may be somewhat difficult to talk to a 9... She's that hot, and probably out of your league.
8 ~ Very very attractive, but still somewhat rare. My girlfriend is an 8, without bias, and I'm pretty darn lucky on that front. Any flaws in an 8 add to character and/or cuteness. An 8 will turn most heads when she walks into a room. With decent adult confidence, approaching an 8 shouldn't be too difficult. An 8 has her pick of most men.
7 ~ Attractive with a few flaws. A normal "hot" girl falls into the 7 range. There are a handfull of these girls at the med schools that I've visited. 7's have all the raw material physically to be very successful with many guys.
6 ~ Cute, very approachable, by no means a dog. A few more med school girls end up here
5 ~ Average. Several flaws, but not ugly. A good personality can be an amazing asset to a 5. About half of med school girls end up here.
4 ~ Well, we're getting pretty low on the scale. Friend material, even with a good personality. The bell curve is on the down slope here when it comes to med school girls.
3 ~ Damn, she better be one heck of a conversationalist, because she isn't much to look at. A physical relationship is out of the question.
2 ~ Tough to look at, but as a nice person you try not to avert your eyes too much if she comes up and starts talking to you.
1 ~ Is that really a girl?
