I haven't seen any in a while and I had a really awkward one on a recent one so I thought I'd share!

Me: *notices dog pictures.."oh so you like dogs? Thats nice what breed is it?

Interviewer: Its a blah-blah breed

Me: Oh thats cool, I had a dog myself..she was a boxer

Interviewer: *3 second silence "You know we don't allow dogs on campus right?"

Me: Oh really? Thats ok cuz she died 2 years ago *nervous laugh...

*silence

:help:

You could have answered with: "Oh I know that, which is why I killed her two years ago when I decided your school is my dream school"

Interviewer logic:

-Interviewee comments on dog picture
-**** you for liking dogs. Guess what? YOU CAN'T BRING THEM HERE.

It's like bringing your dog to medical school is a regular thing? I dunno what this interviewer was thinking.

This was in a conference room for a presentation about the school.

Dean: why don't we all go around the room and say our name, whether we're interviewing for MD/PhD, and a fun fact...

**2 students whip out notebooks copying the deans fun fact down**

Felt so bad for them after hearing stories of them actually getting quizzes on fun facts at other interviews

I had one II at a top school and I screwed up my first interview with a medical student. I wasn't prepared to interview with someone so casually and she had a very strong glare. Because of her glare, I couldn't focus on looking her in the eyes.. My eyes kept wandering around to her neck or forehead.

Also, she asked me a question that I didn't expect and I rambled. In the end, I realized that I wasn't going anywhere so I literally said, "I'm sorry... I need to collect my thoughts..." She said, "It's okay." I think I screwed up big time. Are things like this normal or are "good interviews" basically flawless?

Because of these things, I also started to speak English with a weird accent.
