Hi, I am searching for Physical therapy schools that are diverse. I hope to not be the only minority in the class room. I'd love a mixture of people, hence this could make my learning experience more like real life, where your going to work with all kinds of people. Do any of you guys know schools that are diverse, but are also great schools?

Diversity seemed very important to MGH IHP when I applied and interviewed.

The school I'm attending, GSU, seemed to put a heavy weight on diversity. It was one of their supplemental essays in fact.

I believe pretty much every school you apply to will have students coming from all different backgrounds. I'm from Massachusetts and it's very diverse in the Boston area. A few fantastic programs include: BU, Northeastern, MGH IHP, and Simmons.

I just looked at IU's student profile for their most recent class... they have 39 Caucasian students and 1 Asian
. I would recommend seeing if other schools have any student profiles like that, if diversity is important to you. If not, most at least have general university demographic information that could give you a sense of things.

I go to Touro, which is a Jewish institution (most students here aren't Jewish though), so we observe all the Jewish holidays, have a Rabbi that gives talks, and if we serve free food at campus events, it's kosher. And Touro is located in Henderson/Las Vegas, so I would say my school is pretty accepting of diversity 🙂.

Don't know where all these diverse schools are. My school has 3 black 3 Asians 4 Hispanic 3 middle eastern and the rest are white (like 40+). Howard has lots of minority though.

I would agree about MGH, I know when I went on the interview for UNE they had students from almost every state every year, Regis had applicants from everywhere, and multiple different ethnic backgrounds, and then there were a few others. I don't agree fully on all schools having diverse populations because that's how I started separating the schools I got into to make my choice. The University of Kentucky is a top school, but they accept mostly In-state students and most out of states come from the surrounding area. I didn't meet really anyone in my interview group of 30 people I met from further locations. I didn't want that because I was coming from Florida, and wanted more people from different states. They may have different ethnic diversity, but I would look on PTCAS the in state out of state ratio, and if it's similar In numbers or have more out of state, I would say they are more diverse than those accepting mostly in state. I think Columbia had a decent group of different backgrounds as well.
