I'm curious what people have found to be the most frustrating thing (or the thing that they would like most to change) about their medical education? For example, I recently found out that only faculty in core rotations receive any sort of student evaluation. Other faculty have little to no accountability with regards to students. Or perhaps, should grading in the clinical years be more uniform across the country -- should evaluations and shelf exams be weighted from school to school? Chime in with what frustrates you or what ideas you might have to improve medical education.

I am frustrated with the lack of specific feedback about exams. They just give us a numerical grade. We never get to look back at the test and see which questions we missed, so that we can figure out what we did wrong.

We have something like that with a few of our classes. We get a printout of our answers and get to see a copy of the test posted in hallway for about 30-60 min. We can look at the exam but can't write anything down. It would be much more of a learning experience if we could have our copy of the old test to really look up and understand what we got wrong and to use for preparing for future tests. As it is now, having an entire class of med students jocking for position in a crowded hallway to see what questions they got wrong just irritates me.

I agree completely. What is the point of a test if you don't learn from it? IMO all tests should be given back with answers and explanations so we can look them over and understand so we don't miss that stuff on boards. They do this cuz the profs are too lazy to write exams each year?
