God I hate Physics II.. electromagnetism sucks.

I know there's some pretty crappy ones; I've been lucky to avoid most of them.. what's yours?

I thought I was smart enough to take a Nietzsche class.. I don't think I have ever felt so dumb in my life.

Math 32L! Yes, I said L, as in a Calculus II with a Laboratory component. What do you do in a math lab exactly? Still not 100%...it felt like detention with hella numbers. Plus, they had their own weird, altered grading system. Go figure.

Instrumental Analysis. Upper-division chemistry class about how IR, Mass Spec, GC, etc. work. Very dry subject taught by the driest of dry professors. It was like the Sahara in there.

Yeesh, I can only imagine how bad Physics II, and Physical chem are. For me my most hated was calc II, just had a horrible time with the class. The material wasn't too bad, but it was hard nonetheless, and the way the Department runs the course and the instructor made the class a bit overwhelming and again the material wasn't the easiest.

Genetics and Evolution have been my least favorite classes so far. Genetics was interesting but I didn't like the teacher. Evolution just blows.

In terms of most difficult, pchem by far
In terms of most boring/difficult to sit through, Human Values in Agriculture (god that class was sooooo boring and attendance was required)

I used to think it was Physics Lab. Now, I realize the worst class of all time is Advanced Micro Lab - no doubt in my mind.

It would probably be easier though if I went to class.

Calculus and Evolution. These classes sucked. So boring and having little do with medicine. (Well maybe not evolution.)

Nuclear Reactor principles. It didn't help that the guy teaching it was one of those ultra-smart types that couldn't effectively convey a concept even if he was reading it out of the text. A close second, related to premed, would be accelerated Ochem, 1 full years worth, over the summer. At least the teacher for that class was engaging.

Jazz appreciation.

Seriously. Took it because I was in band for 10 years, thought, "Hey, 3 fine arts credits; this'll be fun." The course is 25% jazz appreciation and 75% research papers and guided discussion. It is stupid. Luckily, it's an automatic A.

I hated general biology so much. The material pertinent to humans and even most animals was entertaining, but the crap on plants and fungi ruined it for me. Major changed.

i always hated thermodynamics. the rest of physical was pretty interesting (although it was hard).

worst class i ever took though was women's studies lol

I agree. That's one reason I didn't major in pure Biology: they make you take ecology, botany, epidemiology and all those other stupid classes. Subjects that I just cannot stand!

WORST CLASS EVER: Statistical and combinatorial analysis of partial differential equations

Forensic Psychology. Basically, listening to a lawyer/psychologist, far past her prime, revel in her glory days when she was called upon as an expert witness. Then, presenting us with exams (all essay) filled with fun questions about things that she couldn't remember whether or not she taught us.

actually i took botany which was also horrible, but that was mostly just because the teacher was a total psycho douchebag. he had this weird inferiority complex and always talked about how much harder it was to get his PhD than it is to go to med school, and how med school is "basically a trade school" and how botany is like THE most important science. he also talked about hunter-gatherer societies and how we should be more like them, then the tests would all have questions about his stupid personal anecdotes like how he went to bolivia and how big the snakes are or some ****.

cultural intersections. English class, sorta... I think I got a B+ because I didn't agree with the teacher's philosophies.

Survey of Economics, hands-down.

Biochemistry. This class could have been amazing, but the prof did not relate it to "real life" at all and just wanted straight mechanism memorization.

My husband's PhD advisor is the same way. He actually got into med school, then decided to pursue his p-chem PhD instead. We were having dinner at his house and he went off about hating doctors and med school for a good half hour. Apparently after we left his wife yelled at him and had another conversation with him about tact, because the next day he apologized to me via my husband profusely for his comments and amended some of his statements

I'm pretty sure we go to the same school, unless there's another top 10 place with the same rediculous class... luckily I skipped that one, though calc 3 wasn't any better (at least no lab I guess)

General Chemistry I.

Not fun. Weed out. Monster Exams. Monster HWs. Crazy Class Competition. Odd Teaching Style. Unfit Professors.

Glad that's over.

Most boring class: Bio stats. I think my eyes were closed more than they were open. Still ended up with a 99% though, so I'm not complaining. And no, I'm not a stats expert, I suck at math, the professor was just THAT easy.

Most Difficult class: Calc. ^^, I really am bad at math, which I found out from this class. My school had a calc class for science majors, and then a seperate class for math/physics/engineering majors. For some odd reason, when it came time to sign up for classes, I thought it would be a good idea to sign up for the latter, to "learn more". God damn was I wrong. Average GPA given: 1.7. I walked out with a C+ and felt like I just climbed Everest.

wow, strong external thought process.

Ha. We most definitely did. I doubt any other school oddly numbers their courses and has a math lab, lol. I gave up the ghost after 32L...I'm sure 103 wasn't much better :/

Physics II was absolutely horrible. My professor looked like a villain from a James Bond movie.

Ugh. Physics II by far...

actually no. The whole physics series in general. 😡

So glad that's over and done with.

What was so bad about Physics II? I'm in Physics I right now and it doesn't seem that bad. Compared to I, how bad is II?

Gen Chem I

We had the head of the chem dept. teach the class, and he thought we were all stupid for not understanding his crazy exams - one exam the class average was 49%! Not a very good prof for a basic chem class.

My favorite has to be a selected topics class that included genetics, physiology and biochemistry - or Ochem I.

Physics I is plug and chug, but physics II has many more equations (and is very conceptual).

Like the wavelength of light reflected through mica w/a thickness of 1.0mm against a substance with an index of refraction greater than the mica material- crap like that

Equations like that still give me nightmares. I took the Physics series over this past summer and it was awful. Everything was so fast paced it gave little time to understand the concepts. That will be the last time I take a science course over the summer.

Microbio lab 😡

Physical anthropology was the worst. I don't care what bonobos eat or where lorises are found.
Bio 2 was also an extremely boring class...the teacher was crazy though!!

biotransport phenomena.. I took the class w/o some prereqs, bad move!! On top of that, the prof was denied tenure and decided to quit so he literally traveled throughout the semester networking for his next job. Yea he didn't give a flip about the class and he told us his priority was finding another job.. talk about professionalism..

WORST CLASS EVER: Statistical and combinatorial analysis of partial differential equations

correction folks i found a class that is even worse than this one it is called

Statistical and combinatorial analysis of partial differential equations 2😱

Organic I and II, Physics II, Genetics (because I hated the prof)

Archaeology - more about techniques than case studies, boring as hell

any class that gives too much busy work

My worst two classes were physics 1 and gen chem 1. I had terrible professors for both, who either A) only cared about NASA and constantly complained asking why no one understood him and B) Was the softball head coach and only cared about his team and was either gone most of the time or in a sexual harrassment lawsuit :eyebrow:

Organic Evolution. I slept through every lecture and still don't know what I got from that class...besides a lot of nap time.

pick a chem lab...any chem lab. It's a whole lot of work to understand **** you already know.

Anyone taken accounting? For me, accounting was incredibly boring and with mandatory attendance, I declared the class my official nap time.

Gen Chem I labs were the worst thing ever. You spend 9 hours a week in the lab, end up getting crappy results even though you followed the procedure exactly, professor grades it in 2 minutes, -80 points for having a crappy percent yield, there ya go F on your lab report

I'm with the OP on E&M, but it was the intermediate version that got me. Thank God that's as far as I had to go. Applied vector calculus is the devil.
