And apparently ENGLISH is not your strong suit. Better go back to 3rd grade and relearn your English grammar and spelling....

I have less of an issue with the grammar than with the fact that so much effort was put in to a post having so little value. 🙂

The wit on this thread seems to be nearly unbearable at times. 🙂 It took all of 90 seconds.

If I could have majored in anything in college, it would have been astrophysics.

threads' tl;dr, but it's got to be either physics or engineering. neither get the props they deserve because of grade deflation, and adcoms know it. not that that gets you very far if you've got a 3point1......

I spelled one word wrong on an internet forum. Relax. Who says go back to third grade anyways?(other than 4th graders) It was very late and I was/still am exhausted. I am a classical literature major. 😡

Your aside should've been placed before the question mark, and there should be a comma after the word "late" and before "and." 🙄 Kidding.

I get two responses to philosophy.

The normal response is either condescending or to make a joke.

The rarer response is to be impressed. It does happen though. More so in my old research assistant job than among fellow students, though.

Probably because 90% of philosophy majors end up working in gas stations. You're the exception. Maybe they're more impressed by you and not by your major? 😉

Nuh-uh. Some get into PhD programs. And some of those become teachers or even professors! Rare to be gas stations though. Barnes and Nobles on the other hand.....

But as far as undergrads go, at least at my school many were pre-law. I've heard it's really good prep for the LSAT.

Although, I do like the other, more flattering interpretation you gave =)

Had a TA that said she dropped out of med school (scored a 34 on the MCAT) to major in Philosophy. She was a bit pretentious, yeah.

She left medical school to go back to undergrad in philosophy? Or to do a MA or PhD in philosophy?

Really? This + Chem Majors are top 1% topic give me migraines. I hope people who talk about this stuff on SDN don't do so in real life because it's a really fast way to come off as a total jerk.

This has been an informative and interesting discussion. No claims of superiority have been made like in that other silly thread. Seriously, don't be like that. 🙂

Personally I think that Microbiology & Immunology is the most impressive (and the best!) of them all 😛

Plus almost EVERYONE I meet finds MBI to be more impressive than both my best friend's majors (Material Science & Engineering and the other one Cognitive Science)😀

"Most impressive" is a pretty clear claim of "superior." Have fun with your discussion though.

Impressiveness is merely a portion of what goes into overall superiority. I believe superiority is a combination of prestige(impressivness), earning power, practicality, cost, etc. This thread merely focuses on the facet of impressiveness. Similar threads could focus on the other facets. Again, don't be like that. 🙂
