What is the most ridiculous question that you've been asked during an interview?

Mine:

During a situation in you life where you were faced with a choice, did you make the wrong choice? And then how did you rectify that wrong decision?

I blanked and basically dodged the question with something about me maturing. haha. ah well.

That question doesnt seem too ridiculous. Its come up on secondary apps before too.

I wasn't asked this question, but another person in our interview group was tellin a story of a previous expereince...he said the first question he was asked was "How does it feel to be Russian?" 😕 He said he just stared at him bankly, confused, and not sure how to respond. Haha.

My "out of left field" question was: "If you had to fight the war on drugs, how would you do it?".

That was quickly followed by "How do you feel about marijuana?"

(I do want to do addiction research, so this wasn't 100% random)

I have not been asked that but everyone does try to convert me... apparently I have some sort of SAVE ME sign embedded in my forehead that everyone but me can see, and everyone tries to convert me

SHE just said that must've been uncomfortable when I told her I had been proselytized. I do not like talking about my beliefs because I am so bad at them.

I once told a Mormon missionary on campus that I was a Scientologist and started spouting things about Xenu and Theatans. It was fun, until they were interested in learning more! Good thing my opinion on scientology never came up during the interviews!

I had a major panic attack when one interviewer told me that she wanted me to explain an inconsistency on my application. Thoughts of "oh my god, did I mistakenly put down the wrong end date for an activity?" cross my mind. Turns out she wanted me to explain my "Q" on the writing section. She said that the writing score was only at the national median for accepted students, while my scores in the other sections were higher. I stared at her for a few moments and then repressed the urge to scream that a "Q" is higher than the average accepted student at her institution.

That's seriously hilarious. It's pretty impressive how much you knew about the school's MSAR statistics too.

Answer: I thought about it for about 5 seconds, then looked up and smirked, "Well of course I'd be the spoon, cause then I'd get to eat all the ice cream."

Interviewer almost spit his drink out laughing. Result: Accepted. haha. 😛

Ugh, I'm really glad I won't be interviewing during an election year. I'm fairly political, and while I'm perfectly capable of keeping my mouth shut about it, I'm not very good at hedging when somebody straight up asks me. With my luck I'd end up ruining my chances at my dream schools by pissing off the adcoms.

I once got "What do you think about the financial crisis?" followed by a series of questions about the regulations on lending institutions, how they've changed in the past, etc. None of it was even remotely in a medical context, just the broad financial crisis.

Man, everybody knows you gotta read up on the healthcare system before you go to your interviews. A lot of interviewers will touch on that subject.

I wasn't ready to answer THAT kind of detail...😀

Hahaha ya at that point I had to say I didn't know. But at the end when he let me ask questions I asked him because I was curious and he didn't even know! I'm guessing he would have kept questioning me until I reached the point of giving the key answer.... I DON'T KNOW

I had one guy who kept pressuring me about wanting to go into medicine and kept trying to basically talk me out of it. At one point he said something like "You do know your wife is going to leave you, right?"

That was the most ridiculous, over-the-line thing an interviewer has ever said to me.

nah I think it's the other way around actually to see if you know stuff outside of your course work. No offense, but seriously not knowing each candidate's healthcare proposal when you plan to enter a healthcare field in arguably the most historic election ever??? And not knowing each candidate's fiscal policy when the economy is in huge trouble???

Not to bash anyone, but come on these are the big stories of '08. You gotta be living under a rock or something to not know anything about them. I think it shows you don't care if you're ignorant about the status of the economy and a field you will enter into, both very big things that will affect you.

However, generally I think any subjective questions about politics and religion should not be asked and are collectively ridiculous. People will instantly judge you once you open your mouth on these topics, for better or for worse. Flip a coin.

EDIT: I remember when the whole Russia vs. Georgia battle was going on, and people were like "wow Georgia? Here?"
