I making a list of the most ridiculous thing you were able to finagle in your contract....
I know someone that got an apartment around the hospital!

So this is an interesting question...when offered a contract from a notable midwest program this interview season, I was initially offered $57,599.00 including $10,000 signing bonus. I thought this was insulting. I proceeded to request a 2010 Mercedes Benz S550 as a signing bonus and they counter-offered me an SLK 500. I accepted. Through further contract negotiations, I was able to obtain free housing along the Chicago lakefront (the program itself is not in Chicago but they included free airfare to my midwest residency whenever needed), free food (at the hospital as well as at numerous programs in a list to be submitted later), and $5000 in educational stipend with a matching $5000 in stripper stipend at the local gentlemen's club down the street. I would also only have to serve one overnight call every full moon and would serve as attending of service 2 out of my 8 inpatient "call" months. Also, full season tickets to the Chicago Bears, New York Yankees, LA Lakers and AVP Women's Volleyball tour. Through more finagling, I was also able to get full tax refunds and doubled my salary to 114,000. They also threw in $600 gift cards to Chipotle, Subway, and Wendy's because they knew I would ask. They also gave me free tuition at the affiliated university but after finding out this was standard for everyone I slapped their lead attorney in the face and they gave me 4 dorm rooms in the best dorm on campus ( I have no use for this, PM me if you would like to sublease). Gym membership, yoga classes, and jetski were also included in the package. I also got a framed full body potrait of myself placed in the Neuro ICU. At this point I got tired so asked for a personal chef and then left the negotiations. Further negotiations are still pending so please let me know what else I can ask for....!!

It is so refreshing to see that there are at at least a few people in medicine that can:
1) Write
2) Have a sense of humor

This is hilarious.

haha thanks. I dont even know what the OP means..... can we restructure our contracts?? I thought once we match we're forced to sign whatever is in front of us... It might be different for FMGs that pre-match? I dunno...

Oops. I'm an idiot and now realize this guy might be talking about actual contracts (like attending contract) and not resident contracts. I just assumed everyone on here is a fourth year medical student applying for residency this year like me because I am a self-centered bastard. Sorry in advance. Don't flame me. God speed.
