Entering P1 pharm school in the fall. What would be most useful to study over the spring/summer to get the most use out of it/better jump on pharmacy school material?

Relax and take it easy. P1 is basically undergrad all over again, for the most part. If you really wanted to get a headstart, just review your biochemistry, physiology, and o-chem I notes from your classes.

Getting a job before you start pharmacy school would you help greatly especially when you are applying for an internship

I would start finding a job as a Pharmacy Tech before entering school, the environment will prepare you for the actual real world situations, and also give you valuable insight into everyday work as a retail pharmacist. The job will also give you knowledge into different medications/dosages/etc, as well as a nice paycheck boost into the deep financial hole ahead hehe. Start building up your social network among the pharmacist web, you never know when you'll need them further down the line, especially when job hunting begins.

Can someone get a pharmacy intern license before starting school? for example: I have already been accepted to a college in my home state. Will I be able to apply for intern license right now and potentially work spring 2015/summer2015 before the start of fall 2015?

Thanks.

top 200 drugs and pharmacokinetics. Brush up on your algebra, converting equations into different forms is a big part of kinetics.

Relax and enjoy the time you have left. You will have plenty to keep you busy the next four years. I would recommend working and some travel time.

top 200 drugs are my suggestion. But if I were you, I would spend my time with family and world of warcraft/league of legend as much as I can.

Thanks for all the replies. I currently am and have been a tech for nearly a year. I think top 200 would be good. I know a lot of them already I think. Soo just looks like some undergrad science review!

I would not study regularly unless you find the top drugs or other pharmacy topics actually interesting. Working as a tech can be useful, but do you really know which parts of your undergrad Ochem, Microbio, etc. will be reviewed in your pharmacy school curriculum or not? If so, is it not even until second year or later when you'll have already likely forgotten it after your Summer studying?

Pharmacy will essentially be your life once classes begin. Future Summers and breaks may be filled by internships or extracurriculars. Use the time you have now on family, traveling, working if you need/want to, etc.

I definitely suggest interning for the summer. It will give you good hands on experience, and may even teach you some things you may not already know. I've learned a lot working as a Pharmacy Tech..stuff that I may not have necessarily learned in class. And it makes you appreciate the field more. Definitely not easy, but well worth it!

Added Tips on what to loook foward to if you choose this route:

Fast paced, Can get overwhelming at times, I hope you don't mind repeating yourself alot,

You need 30 hours of pharmacy school credit to be an intern.

That depends on the state. Unless they listed the state up there and I missed it. Texas is 30 hours, Nebraska and Oklahoma let you be an intern as soon as you start school. I think some states don't require a license. You have to read your state laws.

Usually not until you have enrolled in the program

This. Contrary to what people think, there is not much chemistry and calculus in pharm school,

dude just relax and enjoy your summer. hook up with random chicks because you are probably wont be able to do that once school starts. at least this is my plan for p1 lmao

Learn the generic name of benzos/all anti-depressants/BP/and cholesterol medications you will see them every 30 seconds

America is fat depressed and suffers a lot of anxiety (and pain)!

Very true, unfortunately

Study? Man...take a break before you die of studying during the year! haha... But I do agree with ^^^ about learning drugs - for me hands-on experience in the pharmacy helped me learn the drugs the most!
