Have any of you participated in the Early Assurance Program at Mount Sinai or know someone who has? I am considering applying to this next year. However, I am afraid that the program is too good to be true. They require you to attend an 8 week summer program after junior year in which you take physics and orgo chem and i'm just wondering if a lot of people fail out. they don't provide any statistics on how many people get in and how many people actually complete the program. does anyone know where i can find this info? Thank you!

My two cents about this, I recently interviewed at sinai (already accepted) to the regular MD degree. Just wanted to tell you they seemed to care a lot about this program and its students. It's a great way to guarantee your spot, but at the same time it locks you into a school (but i'm sure you know all this). I met several medical students who were part of this program and they all seemed to love it. They said their science background is not stellar, but they felt sinai eased the students into the classes enough, so they didn't have a lot of trouble. Also, because sinai has such a cooperative attitude, that should not be a problem as other stuents (those science majors would be willing to help). I think once you get into the program, you are kinda considered part of the school and they'll do their best so that you can do your best (very low fail rate). hope it helps. good luck

You need a high SAT verbal score. they want at least a 650. i guess they were able to conclude from their studies that if you don't have at least a 650, you'll fail medical school 🙄 . i suggest you memorize a lot of words and retake the SATs if u need to.

Thank you guys. That was useful. I guess what i'm more worried about right now - is failing the summer program itself - 8 weeks seems like a short time to learn physics and orgo chem- rather than med school itself. what do u think?
