Hi all,

Anyone have any info on Mount St. Mary's DPT program? Any students or alumni that have graduated from there have any advice or recommendations? Or even people that have visited and have seen the campus and classes and stuff?

Thanks!

I visited the Doheny campus this past October and I had a very good first impression. The campus itself is pretty small because it used to be a gaited property with a mansion in the center. All of the PT classes are also in one building so it is super convenient. Class-wise, their cohorts are fairly small (35 spots) and they seemed like a pretty close and tight-knit group. In class, they also re-use siliconized cadavers instead of fresh ones which has its pros and cons. In terms of housing, Doheny itself has on-campus dorms but they're a little pricey so a lot of students find apartments instead. The school is also just a few blocks away from USC so many MSMU and USC students share the same housing. Admissions-wise, the counselor that I met with told me that stats are pretty important along with the essay since MSMU does not conduct interviews. They also send out two rounds of admissions, one in December and another in January. This year, the acceptance process is a little slower because they want to give all of the qualified applicants a fair shot compared to last year where they filled a lot of their seats with early-decision applicants.

Sorry for the late response, but thank you so much for this info! Are you going to end up going there by any chance?

I would but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'm hoping to get a decision response by the end of this month. :xf:

My acceptance letter said that the deposit is due by January 17th, so I am sure you will hear from them right after that! Good luck! 🙂

Do you know if there is some type of group for current students? And do you plan on attending?

I am actually not sure. I tried looking for one on Facebook, but couldn't find anything. I am sending my deposit and will be attending if I don't get into CSUN. What about you?

I'm still waiting, but I guess this week since all the schools are going to open up well hear back from everyone. Let me know if a FB group comes up or something, have you had an opportunity to visit the school?

I'm sure you'll get in! 🙂 I'll definitely let you know if I see something. No, I've driven by it, but I still have not had the chance to visit. I'm hoping to visit soon, though. Where else have you applied?

Fresno, CSUN, MSMU, Touro, LLU, Chapman, Pacific (OR), AT Still, I'm honestly not sure why i applied to most of those schools, I am most likely going to try and stay in California, maybe because I was nervous lol.

I applied to a lot of schools, too haha. I'm sure you'll be able to stay in Cali! What's your top choice?

Azusa, CSUN, Loma Linda, MSMU, CSUS, Samuel Merritt, UOP, University of St. Augustine (San Marcos), West Coast, and Western

Nice! What's your top choice?

Probably Fresno, or CSUN just because they're so much cheaper but MSMU is my hard 3rd.

Well, looks like I'm officially going to MSMU!

You got the email too huh? Haha
About CSUN? Yeah 🙁 It's ok though. You can't win them all haha

They sent out another batch of acceptance letter?
I'm actually not sure. I got accepted to MSMU mid December, but I think they should be sending out another batch this month. The last day for me to turn in my deposit is January 17.

u guys just got offered recently or back in december?

I think they sent out their second batch of acceptances last week so we should be hearing back real soon. Hopefully I get some good news :xf:.
crossing my fingers,

they dont send out emails, only through mails am I right?

I called MSMU today and the admissions committee is going to be making their final decisions this week or next and email notifications will be sent out. I hope this helps.

Interesting, looks like I've been talking to the wrong people at MSMU. Thanks for the clarification and good luck to you!

I just received an email saying I was placed on the alternate list. Pretty bummed since this was my first choice but hopefully someone gives up their seat.

Did they tell you how far along you are? How does that work?

And does anyone know how their financial aid is? 31k/year plus living in LA doesn't sound like it's going to be very cheap..

I'm not exactly sure but I think it's an unranked list. Once final decisions/deposits are made and there are still seats available, the admissions committee will review all of the alternates again. As for the cost of attendance, I was going to rely on loans and maybe WICHE (if I got it) but my chances don't look to good right now. What about you, did you hear back from them?

Does anyone know the chances of being picked off of the waiting list?

Looks like Mt. Saint Mary's it is, anyone else get accepted want to form a FB group? I spoke to Dr. Lowe and she said we'll be receiving a welcome email mid march with more info.
