So for those of you who got accepted to dental schools in different states from where you are living right now, how are you guys planning on moving interstate?

To be honest, I am a little nervous, although I have moved may times within my state before this is will be the first time I am moving interstate, not to mention with my wife and a kid!

So how are you planning on moving or for those who have moved interstate before, how did you prepare for moving interstate?

scorched earth policy. i am donating/selling/burning most of my earthly possessions and taking that which can only fit in my car. i'll rebuild with minimalism in mind to dig in for the four years of school.

jimi...does this thread imply you got in to a school? thanks for sharing.

Yea looks like I may be moving across the country too. I've lived in the same place my whole life (minus my college years, which was only an hour and half from home) and this will be my first time moving. From the good ol south to Utah! I too am wondering how this move will be and how to prepare. I haven't even found a place yet. Just been searching on craigslist and apartment finder, but there's so much out there and it's hard to say which is better when all you see is pictures on the internet vs the real deal.

I will probably do the same, selling most of the furniture and what not.

And yes, I got in to a school!! This was my third and last try at becoming a dentist and I am finally taking the big stride. Couldn't be more excited !!

What do you know? I am moving to Utah as well!! The good thing though, is the Vegas is the driving distance away!! 🙂

I will be moving from Utah part way across the country as well. Hoping the uhaul will fit all my wife, kids, dog and I's stuff. 🙂 Just a tip for those moving to Utah. There is an awesome site to look at homes/apartments to buy or rent in Utah. It's ksl.com It's a local news station that has an awesome classifieds section. Almost everyone in Utah posts their homes for sale or rent on there. Hope that helps those coming to Utah.

Have you guys considered using U-pack ?

I will load my truck with everything and drive for 9+ hours!! Most of my furniture are already in storage ( 4 years) Wow

U pack is quite expensive. When I looked it was about 2 grand.
