I am not attached to anyone here except for my family and a few friends. I want to move overseas and work as a pharmacist in Scotland, London, Australia, or anywhere that speaks english. I have family in Korea but I don't know them well and I don't know Korean.

Think this a fun and Bold idea or foolish? Anyone else thinking about it or done it before?

You will still be on the hook for any student loan payments. If I'm not mistaken, there aren't many places in the world where pharmacists are paid more than here. The exchange rate may also help or work against you.

I would check the licensing requirements before making any huge life decisions.

It's very difficult to work in Britain if you aren't a citizen, married to a citizen, have a degree from a British university, or know people who will sponsor you. They're phasing out the Tier-1 visa (similar to the US H1B), so it's all about who you know. If you're interested in industry, consider trying for an internship with GSK, AstraZeneca, or another British company that might be able to hook you up. PM me if you have questions on how the UK system works (I can't speak for the others, sorry!)
And it's true, you won't make as much anywhere else in the world, but don't let that stop you!

supposedly, this girl from my school that graduated some years ago (don't remember when) got a job in the industry and went to China to head one of the division down there and is making BANK!

I sort of want to do this too but don't know how to go about to do it, esp. b/c im in the midwest and there is no industry around here ha

Germany is really different so far but really cool..having a lot of fun though for the last 2.4 days in a row!

Wahoo! I am going there this summer, I can't wait. Are you still doing pharmacy? How can someone in pharmacy end up in Europe? That would be so ideal since I am originally from there.

If you want to work in uk and Scotland you will have to sit ospap course at university os Sunderland. It takes one year then you will have another one year intern (pre-reg) before you van practice

It looks like you're in the East?!

Have you tried cola beer yet? It's a mix of cola and beer. I had acquired a taste for bitter, microbrewed beer... but cola beer is good, too! 🙂

If you go to Korea, find me some Oreo Os. It's the only place that still has it.

I figure its the reason the US military is there protecting the country. Delicious, delicious Oreo Os.

When they changed them to be like 60% marshmallow and only 40% Os it all went downhill. They can keep that junk with their Hyundais. Now if you mean the original kind, I'd trade 'em a few Fords for those.

UK and Scotland? One of those, are you? 🙄

Moving overseas is a fabulous idea! Its definitely what I intend on doing. My only precaution, and I say this as someone who had a green card in the states for about 5 years, know all you need to know about getting a work VISA. I've seen ppl get deported with no more than a week's notice b/c their VISA expired or there was some sort of fine-print stipulation.

Also, as was previously mentioned, it seems to be that the easiest route to get into pharmacy overseas is by getting into industry.

I am both.

Re-reading my post I think I must have had too many whiskeys with all the spelling mistakes. You can also take the OSPAP at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. :-D
