Just because I feel like I've seen mostly Epi/GH people on here...anyone apply for Behavioral Science/Health Ed/Social and Behavioral Science programs? Even more specific--interested in risk behaviors? I'm mainly focused on BU and Emory right now, but still waiting to hear back from Johns Hopkins so that will probably be in the mix, and am curious to see if anyone has opinions on what the best option is!

I am! I applied to Health Behavior/SBS to all of my schools. I have a friend who did SBS at Hopkins and loved it. Have you heard back from BU yet? I have another friend who started off as international concentration at BU but is switching to SBS.

Congratulations! I have a few friends that go to Cornell and they said it's tough there academically. One of the few Ivy's with hardly any grade inflation. You absolutely killed the GRE though.

Thanks!

So I just checked my Emory OPUS, and there's a link to pay admission deposit. The thing is I haven't received my decision yet, though. What does it mean?? For those who have seen this before, have you guys been accepted??

Got an email from UMich - Dean's Scholarship 50% tuition!

Columbia HPM applicant here... just got an email from the department about an interview with a current student. Sounds like it's an informal interview to get to know us better.

Yay, I'm not alone! 🙂 What schools did you apply to? I just heard back from BU and got the $15,000 merit award, but I'm nervous that a 13-hr move on top of tuition and the high cost of living in Boston will be too much of a financial strain..ugh. What is your top choice?

I didn't know Columbia has interview for MPH applicants ... :/

I think he applied for MHA, not MPH, if I remember correctly.

I didn't either... But it's a student interview? So it sounds a bit more lax. I applied for the MPH. Sorry if I was unclear. It was an email from the Department of Health Policy and Management, so the interviews are likely specific to HPM.

I applied at the Dec 1st deadline with my sophas verification coming a bit later. Got the columbia acknowledgement email on 12/17.

Did you apply for the regular two-year MPH or the accelerated MPH?

The two-year full time MPH. I applied to the health policy analysis (1st) and social determinants of health cert (2nd).

Thx! I can now relax a little since we applied to different programs. LOL

Good luck with the interview.

Congrats!! You got a scholarship email today?

Thanks 🙂. Looks like others are getting them today as well...

Thanks! There's still plenty of time...maybe they are waiting to send out the bigger scholarships! 🙂

I have a feeling that it may be more feasible for schools to give half-value scholarships to applicants who are out-of-state, since the resulting tuition is not far from the annual fees for residents. If I recall correctly, NeurosciTMS is in-state (?). Are you an out of state applicant, LabRat1414?

I'm in the same boat as you! Lots of decisions. On the website they estimate $124,000 in costs over the 2 years of MPH. Crazy!

I'm an out of state applicant although I attended UM for undergrad. LabRat is instate I believe.

Mine showed up about a week before my acceptance but I have no idea if that means anything. Best of luck to you!

I had the pay admissions deposit for about a week before i got my acceptance

JHU is killing me! My application was submitted Nov 30, became complete Dec 8 and still waiting for a decision!
I called them and they said to keep waiting, perhaps two weeks or less I should hear back. I wonder if they are waiting to compare my application to everyone since the application deadline is on the 31. Have no clue though.

Got an acceptance email from NYU this morning! My application was mailed by SOPHAs on 12/11, if anyone else is waiting for news from them.
Congrats!! What department?

Any word on JHU's MHS decisions and when those usually come out?

Accepted to both Tulane and GWU in the concentration of Maternal and Child Health! Still waiting to hear back from the others, but those were my top two schools. Which do you all believe is the better choice?

Also accepted at University of Minnesota! I withdrew my application from Loma Linda. Soooo……GW, Tulane, or Minnesota?

I applied to BU, Yale, Columbia, and GW, but I actually already sent in my deposit to BU! I got the same scholarship as you too! I've lived in Boston for almost 2 years now so if you (or anyone!) have questions about living here I'm happy to answer them! (I live right next to BUSPH). I know that the finances are tough but my boyfriend's med school loans are so much compared to it that they almost feel like nothing haha. Where would you be moving from?

oo another hopeful on here. i'll post my stats! im taking my chances by only applying to the one program for now, we will see what happens...

I called, too and was told mine was under review. She said that the decision should be uploaded before the end of next week (but to call back in another week if it wasn't uploaded). If it was submitted by the priority deadline, I don't think they wait to compare it to the ones with Jan 31st deadline.

Me too! Forever waiting on Hopkins lol

For those getting a link for financial aid on OPUS (RSPH), where do you see it?

So that link to pay admission deposit just showed up on OPUS a few days ago under the admission section, with no decision available yet. I called admissions yesterday and she said it most likely means I've been accepted but couldn't verify...... Today I got an email saying my application was forwarded to my 2nd choice. So either that email was delayed and the 2nd department admitted me or the pay deposit link meant nothing. As if waiting for a decision wasn't hard enough lol... and the school of closed because of snow so I won't be finding out for a while. Has anyone seen that link show up and not gotten in?

I saw the link on mine a couple days ago, but I didn't received any email saying if I've been accepted, denied, or waitlisted. And I only applied to one department. But under the To Do list, it says admissions and it's in red with 4 things I need to complete. I also don't know what that means :/

Well, if it's under the to do list, that definitely sounds like you're in. Based on previous posts and last year's forum, at least. I wish they would improve the communication system to prevent people like us from freaking out. Good luck to both of us!

haha I couldn't agree more. And same to you!

checked Emory's Opus on a whim and saw that I was accepted to Health Policy and Management. Looks like that department is starting to send out decisions 🙂

Admitted to Boston U's HPM MPH program today. They emailed me saying my app was complete on the 9th of this month so that was an extremely fast turn around (IMO). I'm really excited because this is my first acceptance!
