Are there any Mr. Moms out there, (non-income earning) married to dentistry or MD students, residents or working professionals?

What's life like? How are people around you handling this "reversal" of responsibilities? How do the women out there feel about it?

I don't consider myself a Mr Mom, but between me and my SO I'm probably more the Mom than the Dad, in that I'm still a student and she'd making money. We don't have kids, either.

I do most of the cooking and cleaning and she appreciates it. Again, I'm a student so I keep pretty busy.

However, in this day and age, I'm curious as to why men should feel awkward about staying home. I've heard women think it's sexy when a guy does the dishes or something like that...

My husband is taking care of the kids while I slave away as an intern. He has an online business and works from so it works out. Soon it'll all be OK 🙂 Its all for a good cause so it goes by well with understanding people.

Very sexy! that is our plan when I have my career launched.

My husband was laid off several months ago and is now home with the kids. I am in my last year of residency. I love having him home, but he will go back to work eventually....probably when I'm done and we move someplace better for him to find a job. But, it is definitely sexy to see a man taking care of his kids! My husband is awesome and I really appreciate everything he does. I think marriage is all about compromise and team work, and it doesn't matter who earns the income, does the dishes or changes the diapers....Sometimes I wish I could be the one at home, but I love my job and my kids are loved and well cared-for whether I'm home or not! What more could you ask for?

My wife is currently in her 3rd yr of residency looking for fellowships around the country. We don't have any kids but all of the cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping is done by yours truly. She works hard and long hours. Luckily I have the flexibility to work from home most of the time. She calls or texts before she leaves the hospital and I try to have dinner ready by the time she gets home. We try to have dinner together regardless how late she gets home for some normalcy in our lives. This past rotation, dinner has been around 10:30 every night. When things are hectic at work for me, I'll order out. Things are good. Only issue is that now since football season has started, most of my Sundays and Monday nights are tied up.

My husband is earning pretty much no income, but since he's a resident who's never around, he doesn't do any of the childcare or cleaning either.
