just started ms2 and starting with cardiovascular block.

is guyton enough?

we had an intro to cardio block last year and guyton seemed fine but this time around the level of knowledge required seems to have stepped up a gear.

this weeks case itself is all about blood pressure.

a couple of people in the class are using ''j.r levick intro to cardiovascular physiology.''

is levick a step beyond what is required?
i had a look through it, some of it seems useful, other parts are definitely way too detailed.
levick looks more like an ms3 and 4 book?!

advice!!?!!?!

Pathophysiology of Heart Disease by Lilly is far and above the best book you can buy for cardio. It includes some phys, though you may have to read some from Guyton as well; that said, once you guys start path Lilly is a godsend. Probably the single most helpful book I bought for any module in med school thus far.

EDIT: Didn't really answer your question. I think Guyton is more than enough. Guyton always seems to have an excessive amount of detail itself, so I can't imagine going into even MORE detail. I recommended the path book ^ because for me, I never seem to learn phys without learning the relevant pathophys.

Lilly seems like an awesome book. I'll definitely be purchasing it for our CV block. I'd actually like to pose another question: what is a similar book for Renal System? Renal is notoriously difficult at our school and I would really like a clear, concise text to supplement. And even further, what are some other texts you guys think are essential for other blocks? Thanks in advance.
