Hey..

I am a few weeks into MS2 and was hoping to be able to use a test bank with class. So far, there is too much new stuff to make time for the test bank. Also, my school's curriculum is "traditional" i.e. Pathology, Pharmacology and Microbiology are second year courses. I was hoping to use UWorld but the way its organized in a systems based format I am having difficulty selecting questions that are relevant to my course work.

Any tips or idea would be appreciated.

Thanks

i've started low and just going slow... started at 5 questions/day w/ GT, now I'm knocking out 10 questions along with GT.. i figure once i adapt to that ill start doing 15 which will probably be my max for awhile. Any more then that I feel im just "doing" questions without taking the time to learn from them.

Budget your time and try to use the qbanks to learn whatever material you're covering at that time.

Wow, I guess I'm not alone. I'm also about to dip my toe into Kaplan after being married to GT for a while. Its like showing up late to an orgy and not knowing where to start. Maybe I'll try the 10 question a day method until I can handle it.

What kind of question load are you guys typically carrying per day (all banks combined) in addition to the normal MS2 mayhem?

I'm figuring I'll probably end up at 100-150 GT/day + 10-25 Kaplan per day. Could I realistically finish the Kaplan Bank in 3-4 months that way?

Sorry for the hijack.

I started GT really early last year so i only have about 50-70 q/day + 10 kaplan... more GT questions if i decide to bank a lot of cards the weekend before (I tend to do it in spurts now instead of doing X amount of cards each day). GT takes more time then Kaplan by far. But i definitely see the pay off in GT when doing my Kaplan questions.. a lot of people think that Kaplan is picky.. but if you have mastered that section in GT and covered it in class then most of their questions are pretty straight foward.

GT 33% complete, 15% mastery so about 120-150 qs daily. No daily Kaplan; I figure I'll just do it before tests.

Have CV exam on Monday so I may give Kaplan a go this weekend.

Started using kaplan this week before our cardio test on tutor mode. It takes a lot of time to go through a 48q block + answers + relevant first aid material if I feel weak on that topic, but find it really helpful. There's a few questions that probably fit better in blocks I haven't had yet, like renal, which are tough, but its otherwise good.

My thought is that starting with my next block, during the first week or two I'll do ~20q/day on random for all my first year classes, and starting ~2 weeks before the test I'll do ~20-40q/day on that block.

Our school does gen path and micro, then goes through the systems and then does pharm at the very end. I feel like if I try to do a Qbank, I'll just get a lot of questions with pharm or other stuff I haven't got to yet and not yet anything out of it.

How do I pick out the qbank questions that are based on material I've covered?

I assume you guys start your Q-bank subscription during start of 2nd year or around then.

Are you able to find time to do questions from material which you learned during first year? Do you first review what you did in first year and then do relevant questions (while you are a 2nd year student)? Or do you start your qbank subscription during MS1 break and just do all the questions then?

A lot of us have been using GT so first year material is "relatively" fresh. I've banked over 50% with about a 35% mastery. If you've been using GT there is no real reason to look over first year material before diving into questions unless you feel uncomfortable with a specific topic.

Yea I am using GT also, it definitely helps keep info in my head. There is some first year stuff I haven't banked, and other stuff I banked which I really should not have cause I was more so playing with the program to see how it works. I suppose I'll refresh up on that and then bank them when I find time heh...not to mention 'reset' GT so I can remove some cards.
